Anybody still there? After months of shoving MModal down our throats they just sent an email out on how to fix the spellchecker in the program! Do you think that should have been done before forcing this on MTs? Looks like there is no turning back, they are just forcing the issue and you can either make less than minimum wage, WAY less, or take a hike as many of us have been told. A ton of work in regular SR every day because looks like everyone is in fact leaving but at the same time, more and more into MM so it is just a matter of time.

Keep in mind that California does not use the federal guidelines for minimum wage requirements, but actually has a higher standard. This guideline increases July 1st. FN may be in trouble in this regards.

Good grief someone cloned ANON....Anon-2 I am not sure what you mean...but I think that federal guidelines on minimum wage only apply to employees...not an IC. I could be wrong...been wrong before...but I think that that does not apply to ICs. Not sure how many MTs work as an employee at future net but my guess is not many. Do you know?

Are the MTs/MEs being misclassified and actually should be employees? So many companies really do classify their people incorrectly. FN calls all their MTs and MEs independent contractors, but everyone provides a set schedule based on the company's needs that must include a weekend day.

If we were to read the IRS rules, most companies should be classifying their MTs and MEs as employees. It's based on control. Who determines the pay scale? Who writes the contract? Who really sets the schedule?

Just because a company claims a person is an independent contractor does not make it the truth.

It would be interesting to consult a labor attorney (yeh right, in my spare time). But seriously, FN has "employed" ICs but have broken all the rules of maintaining federal law IC status. Wonder what a labor attorney could/would do in regard to forcing FN to pay back pay for overtime, etc. as their IC's are by law employees.

I am also an employee (for now) at FN and agree wtih EVERYTHING you have said. No need to kick a dog while its down...but they continue to kick us...that spellcheck thing was a JOKE.

My heart breaks for you ANON...really..no sarcasm intended at all...I just don't think this spell check thing is funny. Not even slightly. I would be so completely PO that I would be screaming and throwing things at the wall...and I agree with the previous poster saying those IC are all employees too. My friend who works at F N thinks the owner will take all the money and go back to china..and he might if anyone really contacted an attorney or if the IRS showed up for a little chat. Transtech MTs filed a class action over lots less than this..and we all know how that ended up.

Only supervisors or owners or office personnel are considered employees. All MTs and MEs are considered independent contractors. Are you sure that you work for FN?

I agree that the problems with M-Modal should have been taken care of before it was put into use. Why the company did not have a complete manual on the platform is questionable. Why the trainer did not have a full understanding of the platform is questionable.

Future net anon...were you talking to me? I did not say all MTs were IC...I think most are but I am not sure all are. I am sorry if I said something incorrectly. I do not work for future net but I have one friend who does. She is not very happy. but then...who is? I don't think that anyone is instigating anything...it just is what it is and what it is sucks. do you work for them??? If so are YOU an employee?

ANON said they were an employee. I questioned that, as it is my understanding that all MTs and MEs are ICs. I am suggesting that ANON is instigating, not that FutureNet does not deserve all the commentary. Everything that has been said here and at numerous other sites has been accurate to my knowledge, except for the matter of employee versus IC status.

Yes, I am currently working for FutureNet. Not happy about the situation. Certainly no longer working what would be considered full time for FN. Who can possibly work with decreasing income per hour because the company chooses to use terrible programs?

Well, just saw a report on my local news that one of the hospitals in my area is trying out the Dragon Medical voice/rec system, where they are doing it directly at the hospital right into the medical record.
