Do any companies pay for QUALITY? - Perfectionist

I have many years of experience and check my work very carefully, which obviously takes more time than people who put through crap and don't bother to edit whatever the speech engine throws their way.

Do any companies pay for quality over quanitity?  I do meet the minimum line counts.

Our health-care system is broken. From doctors on down, quality means absolutelhy nothing anymore. When was the last time you were impressed with a doctor's knowledge? With the influx of ESL doctors with questionable degrees from questionable medical "schools" in questionable places, quality in our health-care system took a nosedive that I suspect in this economy will not recover. Or at least not for a long, LONG TIME.

Time to get out of this business that values the almighty dollar over patient care, like everything else in this country these days. Just another business...

I am going to get out of MT after 25 years in it. I have found it not to be too rewarding after getting my third pay cut in 8 months and increasing my line count by 15 spaces, which means I got a pay cut and have to work longer for the same amount I was getting with the line count. I am going to a call center which pays more than I get with this job anymore.

NEMT pays a bonus for quality. - Excellent company.

They are IC only, but they LOVE quality over quantity, and when I worked there I very much enjoyed being allowed the time to do it right.

So how did that work? Was it done by cpl, hourly pay, bonus? (NM) - Curious

They only pay 7-8 cents a line, but I did enjoy doing excellent work without pressure. I didn't make much money, but I made enough for what I was working for at the time.

If you do 99% or higher, you get to keep all of your lines. If you don't do 99% or higher, they take up to 50% of your lines away from you and keep it for themselves. How's that for incentive??? :-(

I had no knowledge that they did this practice, as it was not in the "contract." I had a small amount of work over the holiday weekend. I did it, but today I am "resigning." I needed the extra work, but I do not need to have lines stolen. oh yeah, forgot to mention, I was still in "training." all of this at 0.75 cpl too!

Unfriggingbelievable!!! I hope you kept the original contract you signed with them and then the proof of what they just did with keeping the lines. I can not believe that is legal in any way, shape or form.

I would certainly quit too, but give them an earful before you go.

Could you please let us know what company this is. I am looking for a PT time gig and don't want to wind up there.

similar thing happened to me. took a job, working for small outfit, clinic account. was told I would be paid 8 cpl, but would be paid less during training, since they had to pay QA to look over my work. Isn't QA supposed to be paid anyway? why exactly does this come out of my pay? well, I worked for 2 weeks, horrible account, horrible dictator, wonky platform (nice people, though). Then, I submit my line count (wait for it) and I find out that my "contribution" to QA's pay was at the rate of 6 cpl, leaving me only 2 cpl for 2 weeks worth of work. my fault, for not getting clarity on exactly how much QA was going to get from my pay for my "privilege" of learning this account.

We MTs have sustained pay cut after pay cut, decrease in benefits, increase in requirements to maintain these jobs and now as other MTSOs read this they will all probably decide to make us chip in to pay the salary for QA. Next, we will be charged a surcharge or something for the very privilege of working at home, using our electricity, water, and often our own equipment. Also, a couple of companies I worked for required us to print out account specifics and other data on our printer, using our ink cartridges. We are saving them a fortune in overhead and what do we get.... Thank goodness I am close to retirement. I don't think I would want to know what another 10 years will do to this industry.

The company I type for at least does not pressure daily quota. It seems they do review our work carefully but appreciate us taking our time and doing a good job. We do get a tiny bonus if going over a certain amount for the day. I think the client is very picky and demands quality.

I've worked for faster, harder, type, type, type. Boy, those macros can dangerously spit out the wrong thing when I go that fast. I have to pace at a moderate speed.

The demand for volume contributes to low morale of MTs in general. - Cannot do that all the time

I do not understand why MTSOs put all their quotas so high--to the maximum that only the greatest of the great can meet. They burn MTs out so quickly, and it gets depressing after awhile. I have always believed in the "let the MT win" principle. If you let them win, they will produce more for you.

I know there are slackers out there, but they are the exception, not the rule. At one hospital I worked at, they did that. They let the MTs run the department (no lead or supervisor) and get the work out. Our quota was 80 minutes (back in the day when 80 was considered average), but most did 100-140 minutes a day. They did not stop at 80--because our administration TRUSTED US. We did not want to let them down. That was such a great team to work with... not always utopia, but still I love those guys to this day. We keep in touch on Facebook.

I know at my last company I was completely burned out from meeting a demanding quota along with mandatory overtime. My moral was definitely at a high-time low. All better now that I've found a better fit for me! :)

I ran an error report for all reports, all accounts on my platform for this quarter, 10/1 - 10/18. So far the Quality Index is 84% vs Quality Score 99.18%.  Didn't they advertise this new error scoring as working out in our favor?  Doesn't look like it to me. This is based on 2194 jobs and 105,358 lines audited on E5.  I checked the box that says view all corrections on the correction report. ...

slowly sinking here because my quality has always been 98-100 quality, years and years. Now, however, I am expected to maintain 99% quality, on a hideously difficult account, but I must also maintain my LPH. In other words, I have to listen to reports on the fastest speed I can to get my LPH yet maintain some form of quality. The reports go to QA who in turn listen at the slowest possible speed to give errors for not including 'the' and mind you this cannot even be heard unless you ...

What is everyone's opinion about the new speech engine?  I'm not talking about the user side....I mean the quality of it's speech recognition.  I thought it was supposed to be so much better, but I'm finding it to be terrible.  There are times when it leaves out 3 and 4 words and puts in words that are not even close (i.e., family history when the doc clearly says social history)!  That, and the sound quality SUCKS! Just got an email about getting a new quality coach.  This, of course, answers my question of why no emails for the past week from her.  I hope she didn't lose her job.  She was a really good coach, the best one I've had in the last 7 years, and wasn't one who corrected little things like punctuation in audits or things that made no difference in the report integrity.  She is one I will miss.  I only hope the new one is also with a strong QA ...


DSG- Sound Quality

I'm trying to troubleshoot something.  Does anyone else have sound-quality issues on DSG dictations?  Just curious if I should seriously have this looked at on my end.  It's not all reports, but enough so that I need to look into it one way or the other.  If I'm the only one, I'll hire someone to look into this.  I have no problems with audio otherwise, just work-wise. ...

Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen lately.  I received a quality audit on 4/25 on my audit, which I passed at 98.3% (had one icky one in there).  Then on 4/29 got another email of an audit of 5 reports, did not give a total score, but they were all pretty darn good (3 at 100%, 1 at 98, 1 at 98.75).  Then on 4/30, another email, they checked 3 more reports (all those above 98% too).  But what is going on, are they searching for something bad?  Are they doin ...

Just read an article in the AARP Bulletin that 1 in 7 Medicare patients died or were harmed by their hospital care and the number of patients who die each year from preventable hospital errors is equal to 4 full jumbo jets crashing EACH WEEK.  They can't figure out what to do about it.  Maybe auditing the employees like crazy and holding them to a 99% accuracy standard and cutting their pay 50% if they don't meet it like MMMMMModal/Q?  Sure seems to work for me :) ...

I just got a warning for my LPH being too low, and possible termination if I don't increase them right away.  I was taking time to double check my reports and making sure all blanks were filled in, rarely had blanks. With the threat of termination, I have been trying to focus more on quantity. Now I have been going through each report once and hit send.  I have seen example reports from MTs who have great LPH, but I have seen the minor mistakes that come with them too. ...

They gave us the outline and everything, but they mention all their great tools, and I think of the report look up with all the errors, and think... i am on 100% QA and am constantly confused.  I am corrected for things, ask my coach.  She tells me QA is correct.  Then when I change it how she says to I get it changed back to the way I was doing it before~!  I love Fluency, i am amazingly fast at it but i think QA will ultimately do me in...for doing what i'm told to do...GRRRRR ...

I had to pend a report for multiple blanks (bad dictator with bad audio).  One of the blanks was for a drug, and I had a hunch what it was, but wasn't about to take a chance.  Checked FIESA.  QC dinged me .25 point for leaving a blank for the drug name they figured I should have got.   THEY filled in the blank with the drug name and misspelled it!  If I, on the other hand, had misspelled it, it would have been a critical 3-point error for me.   Go figure. ...
