DIT transcription - No paychecks - Used&Abused

I have been typing for DIT transcription since September and I have received only one paycheck. I have been a transcriptionist for 2.5 years and I have never had this experience. I am sick to my stomach and so upset. If anyone has suggestions for new employers for people with some experience, please let me know. Thanks, Used and Abused

It is truly unfortunate that you didn't check with this board before you went to work for that company. There have literally been tons of e-mails referring to exactly what you are going through. GET OUT NOW! Just stop working and never look back. You don't owe them a thing and you will never get paid, no matter what. Check the archieves on this site. If you feel sick now, just wait until you see those posts. Believe me we all feel for you. That company should be run outta town because it truly prays on the innocent!

I have not researched these boards on this company because I really don't care that much, but I have seen this concerning this company more than once. I am curious as to how they get away with it. I would urge anyone who has ever worked for them and gone unpaid to launch a campaign against them on all MT sites. If they post a job add, please warn other MTs as much and as often as possible.

I know this is personal, but how much money do they owe you? What is the reason given for you not being paid? Are they refusing to pay you at all? Is this one of those deals where they pay you "when the client pays." What exactly is their stand? Just curious.

This kinds of mishaps occur because people fail to do their due diligence. They do not run background checks on companies, they do not have a formal contract (and have it reviewed by legal counsel before signing), and finally, they work for far too long after they can see that there is financial danger. This is not a "make wrong," just an unbiased observation. For those of you who say "Oh, I couldn't afford to have my contract reviewed by an attorney," I have to ask, which is more, a couple of hundred dollars to competent legal counsel or to be out hundreds and hundreds (sometimes thousands) of dollars that you will likely never see? People, just because we work at home does not mean we should not run a business like a business. As long as there are sharks like DIT out there, you have to be proactive. Contact the AG in your state and in the state in which DIT is incorporated. Ask to speak to the Fraud Unit. If there is some kind of TV specialist in your city who does consumer exposes, contact him/her. Above all, fight back. I hope you get your money.

If she can't afford one, she should look into getting one on a contingency basis. After all, she did the work, and is owed the money. Pretty much an open-and-shut case. But in order to win a suit, you have to file one. An attorney should go after these crooks, get her money for her (plus interest)and make an example of them as a warning to other shady MTSOs.

First, nm at the end of the visible heading indicates no message, so people will frequently not even bother to click on a message to see the body if you put that in your heading.

Also, several people have taken DIT to court and I can't imagine how they manage to have the doors open, especially since it seems they do with the same name even. I agree the OP should file, but she should not count on getting much out of it, nor should she expect to see DIT even moderately chastised. For any time of justice, something other than the legal system is going to have to get involved- be it IRS, Dept of Labor, Eyewitness News or something.

doubt on teh 2nd being late, but no way I would still be working for them for free. Get out now!!!! What other job would you work and not get paid?? I don't understand why you are still there. File a lawsuit for monies owed and leave.

she might want to go the small claism court route. Cheaper and quicker. Just a suggestion. Also, if you were hired as an employee and NOT an IC, take it to the LABOR BOARD.

been very proactive in trying to get her money. They may have been a few others also. They have done everything that has been suggested and there seems to be no legal recourse for various reasons. Try to find those posts. Put DIT in the search box.

I did make a claim with the Labor Board and got absolutely nowhere. After about a month they called back asking if DIT had resolved my claim. When I told them no and that I had not heard from DIT, they said since it had taken so "long" to resolve the case that they would have to close it. She told me that I could make a claim in small claims court if I wanted. Then she told me that DIT would be fined by the Labor Board. Some good that does me. The Government gets paid but I'm on my own to recover my losses. I had been told prior that the Labor Board could not protect independent contractors, but as a full-time employee of DIT I should have had some protected rights. I can assure you, I am not done with this battle. Just trying to figure out my next step!

Does anyone have a new adress, small claims in Fort Mill does not have an adress to deliver the claims, so they cannot be served. I also need a new number for them as their old one is no longer functioning. Please please help me they owe me from last year. I am with a great company now, but could use my Money, as it is mine.

It's probably in the archives, but I could swear that a burned MT was going to do just that, show up at their doorstep, but tracking all of the various addresses they used showed none of them were valid. I'm pretty sure it was DIT or Toth, but I'm thinking DIT.

My only suggestion to you is to walk away....no run away quickly! DIT owes many, many people tons of money, most people thousands of dollars, and have no intention of ever paying. I have reported them to the Labor Board and the Insurance Commission due to them withholding my insurance premiums and never paying it to the insurance company. Subsequently, my medical insurance was cancelled backdated 6 months prior and all medical bills incured during that time became my responsibility. That is a Federal offense and should land Hadi in jail, but so far I have not been able to get the insurance commission to follow through on this because supposedly I am the only one who has made a claim. For those of you out there who were involved in the insurance fraud, please contact the Employee Benefits Commission, Dept of Pension and Health. I made my claim with Charlene Clark at 404-302-3906. If more people make a claim, they may find it worthwhile to follow through on.

They are continually hiring new transcriptionists all the time knowing that by the time you figure out you are not going to get paid and finally quit, they will have someone else already trained and ready fill in the gap. Please do not work for them another minute. Run ..... Run away!!!!!!

I know what you are going thru, I started working for them in August. I received 3 checks and I had to threaten them for those. I filed a complaint with the labor board last week and they are being investigated

Has anyone found a phone number for this company yet? They still owe me over $1000.00 and I quit working for them in August 2009! I am also wondering how I will get my 1099 from them since they paid me 1 paycheck in 2010.

I work for a very pleasant, friendly, small transcription company, BUT paychecks more than a couple of times are not getting to me and they say it's the post office, and to contact my postmaster. I ask for a reissue and then do send, but its then a week or more late. Once one of their checks bounced!! I just need to vent. I am an IC who is supposed to get paid every week by my employer. Her checks were on time at first, then 1 day later, 2 days later, 3 days later, etc. I went on vacation for 1 week. During that time frame, she even emailed me to see if I was providing my usual weekend coverage. She never replies to my IM, e-mail or phone calls. I decided to look how many hours left in PTO and it was deducted today because I used some PTO on this paycheck that should have been deposited in my account yesterday morning. I think that is good news? Payroll doing their job? Maybe it means paychecks should be in our accounts in pending mode which should be deposited first and then deductions taken out next. I thought I found a good company to work for until I got a two returned checks from them in the mail. The first time I thought mistakes can be made but AGAIN my check was returned. That really upsets me because I work hard for this company and they give me a bad check. There is no excuse for doing this to an employee. Would someone explain to me how is that this company can legally pay us a lower rate for ASR compared to transcription?
