[ In Reply To ..]none of them pay great. This industry has gone down hill in wages so bad and very few companies pay very well. So, I guess what I am asking besides the pay scale is are they hard to work for, alot of ESL, are they really as flexible as they say, etc...that kind of stuff.

Most of these companies have us over a barrel because they know they can-they know we need jobs-they know we are barely getting by but with no job at all many would sink. I don't criticize anyone who is working for these wages-it's not like there are hundreds of jobs with great pay just waiting for us. Not everyone can afford to just quit. It'a a rock and hard place for a lot of people and it's not right but what are we supposed to do? No way you will get everyone to walk out and that is what it would take. I personally plan on pursuing a little more education and getting out of this industry, but until then I gotta pay the bills best I can. At least I'm not asking for a free ride like so many people. It's not right what these companies are doing and one day I hope it comes back to bite them.

[ In Reply To ..]Comparing cents per line is like comparing apples to oranges. When we get paid in the range of 6 cpl or 12 cpl, the amount per hour depends on the quality of the transcription. I would much rather get paid 6 cpl and fly through the work if it's an easy to understand doctor versus make 12 cpl and can't understand the doc, have to listen to the same thing ten times just to get what they are saying, and have to look up a ton of stuff with a ton of specs. You can't just take a look at the cpl and pass it up based on that. There are a LOT of factors involved on whether or not 6 cpl is a horrible rate!

If you know companies that are paying what I made 15 years ago, please let me know. We are not all in a position to switch careers or drive to a worksite. Perhaps if these have good voice quality and decent dictators it might just be better than 10 CPL with an MTSO that does not care about what kind of horrible scenarios we deal with trying to provide an accurate report for the patient. No work x 10 CPL is still no income. Who knows? We are not all have our own reasons for staying or leaving, trying a position like this for less CPL, and have situations to consider in making a living. I personally am not lacking in intelligence and can do the figures and the research to find what I might need to pay bills and put food on the table.
We are not driving down the industry, the greed of so many MTSOs have already taken care of that.

[ In Reply To ..]I do this type of work and have for over 20 years. For 6 cpl, it's not worth it. You would have to work a ridiculous amount of hours to make any sort of wage to live on, with no expander use and no normals. Heavy record reviews. It's just not worth it.

The other poster was correct also. Do not accept such a low wage. It hurts all of us in this industry! Jeesh, I know just how much the physicians get paid for these reports, up to several thousand dollars, and they want to pay us peanuts!

[ In Reply To ..]as this one is, they are getting a nice chunk of change keeping it all-inclusive. They can certainly afford to pay more, so don't buy this. The competition for this type of work isn't like clinics - it's pretty even across the board for the big ones, as this one "appears" to be. This is different than picking up a single doctor who does IMEs - they are the cheapos.
One of my contracts gets 18 cents a 65-character line from a HUGE nationwide IME company here - most of those conglomerates pay the same rate, but you can't go in directly as an IC. The profits get split between the two owners and we get a very fair wage that is commensurate with the type of work this is.
Anyone who takes this wage is hurting not only themselves, but everyone else out there. And it's not all clear, easy dictators. We have ESLs, speed talkers, mumblers, eaters, ridiculous account specs for a few different offices, and bad audio just like everyone else - you still think it's okay for 6 cents a line?

I ran an error report for all reports, all accounts on my platform for this quarter, 10/1 - 10/18. So far the Quality Index is 84% vs Quality Score 99.18%. Didn't they advertise this new error scoring as working out in our favor? Doesn't look like it to me. This is based on 2194 jobs and 105,358 lines audited on E5. I have an opportunity to do so but there aren't any scribes currently in my area and I don't know anyone who has worked as a scribe before. Now, however, I am expected to maintain 99% quality, on a hideously difficult account, but I must also maintain my LPH. In other words, I have to listen to reports on the fastest speed I can to get my LPH yet maintain some form of quality. It's on a wrist injury. The word sounds like (it's slurred), but has the sound of - "inishits" The sentence is He has instability of the distal radial ulnar joint. New Quality Coach

Just got an email about getting a new quality coach. This, of course, answers my question of why no emails for the past week from her. I hope she didn't lose her job. She was a really good coach, the best one I've had in the last 7 years, and wasn't one who corrected little things like punctuation in audits or things that made no difference in the report integrity. She is one I will miss. I only hope the new one is also with a strong QA ...

Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen lately. I received a quality audit on 4/25 on my audit, which I passed at 98.3% (had one icky one in there). Then on 4/29 got another email of an audit of 5 reports, did not give a total score, but they were all pretty darn good (3 at 100%, 1 at 98, 1 at 98.75). Then on 4/30, another email, they checked 3 more reports (all those above 98% too). But what is going on, are they searching for something bad? Are they doin ...

Just read an article in the AARP Bulletin that 1 in 7 Medicare patients died or were harmed by their hospital care and the number of patients who die each year from preventable hospital errors is equal to 4 full jumbo jets crashing EACH WEEK. They can't figure out what to do about it. Maybe auditing the employees like crazy and holding them to a 99% accuracy standard and cutting their pay 50% if they don't meet it like MMMMMModal/Q? Sure seems to work for me :) ...

I just got a warning for my LPH being too low, and possible termination if I don't increase them right away. I was taking time to double check my reports and making sure all blanks were filled in, rarely had blanks. With the threat of termination, I have been trying to focus more on quantity. Now I have been going through each report once and hit send. I have seen example reports from MTs who have great LPH, but I have seen the minor mistakes that come with them too. ...

I had to pend a report for multiple blanks (bad dictator with bad audio). One of the blanks was for a drug, and I had a hunch what it was, but wasn't about to take a chance. Checked FIESA. QC dinged me .25 point for leaving a blank for the drug name they figured I should have got. THEY filled in the blank with the drug name and misspelled it! If I, on the other hand, had misspelled it, it would have been a critical 3-point error for me. Go figure. ...
