Anyone have opinions regarding working for Accentus?
Accentus Ambulatory - nn

If you are talking about the ambulatory/clinic side, very good company to work for. Staff is very nice and have had no complaints.
Acute side - Stuey

So glad you have had a good experience with them. I would be working on the acute side.
Minimum Wage - Been There

Working for Accentus Acute is like working in a Chinese sweat shop. You don't get paid for demos, looking up copies, or spaces. You are timed down to the second. The scheduling software and filling out timesheets is a nightmare, which you also don't get paid for. You might as well work for Wal-Mart.
Working at Wal-Mart - Skeptical

Yes you could do that if they hired MTs with no retail experience.

My son, who was 18 at the time when he worked there made 10$ an hour, more than you will be making working for Accentus Acute guaranteed.
Been there - they also get an employee discount which I am told is great too. NM - Bailey

Also WAS on the acute side - it is all true

What the others have said in this post was true. I also hired on to the acute side, they made it all sound so good, and then bam!! Reality set it. Scheduling was a nightmarend the scheduling person very rude. Did they promise you tons of work? Guess what just in the last couple of weeks, the oh-so-busy Canadian account ran out for a couple of days. Looking up CC's is a big time issue. Takes very long because the resources they give you are not very useful, especially when the "timer" is working against you. Wal-Mart would be better.
It all sounds good - lm

When they hire you. During training they tell you that only 15% of their applicants make it this far and congratulate you. On paper everything sounds great.
In reality, I found it very difficult and I've been at this a long time, have tons of experience, am not afraid of any kind of ESL or any type of report, etc. You are timed to the minute and expected to account for 8 hours of "productive time" which you must keep close count of every day. The scheduling software I never did figure out. If you run out of work you're expected to make up those hours somewhere else in the week which just isn't always possible. We have schedules for a reason.
They throw a tremendous amount of information at you over the course of two or three days or training. I had the darnedest time figuring out who got a CC for each report - we're taking 5 or 10 minutes out of each report. Plus I found their platform terribly difficult to get used to. It's obviously designed so you have to use their designated headings, so they don't have to pay you for them, but I tried for weeks and could not get up to speed on it.
I don't mean to be all gloom and doom but this was my experience. I was excited to get the job and it just turned out to be a nightmare.
Oh, it was about 80% or 90% editing as well.
I quickly left. - On-Time Sold Out
[ In Reply To ..]
Horrible. I dreaded signing on. After years of working with On-Time it was like the minute they sold the company went downhill. Ran out of work and ended up making about 1/8th of what I was before.
Better than most - djr

I've been working for Accentus now for a few weeks, and I'm pretty happy with it. The platform is a little hard to get used to, but aren't they all? I've been extremely happy with the supervisors, HR, etc. No real problems at all.
I have not had any issues with getting a decent line count, and I work on one of those accounts with the overly complicated CCs. It just takes some getting used to, but once you do it for a while, it's not hard. I'm still working on increasing my production, and the timer actually helps with that. I'm averaging around $13 an hour right now, and my line count goes up every week.
Yes, it's a lot of VR, but in my experience the VR actually works pretty well. Rarely do I retype an entire report.
Keep in mind that the many of posters here are unhappy with their career in general and don't really like any company. Accentus isn't perfect, but I don't think the "perfect" company exists (unless you want to start it yourself). Just thought I'd present a different opinion than "they suck." Cause I don't think they do.
I'm not unhappy (sm) - lm

but just being honest. After I posted I was thinking that in their defense the dictators were not bad and the work itself was not difficult, but that dang platform was too complicated to take advantage of that.
If you can master the platform and don't mind adding time, at least an hour, to your day to add up to 8 hours of productive time and you don't mind switching your schedule around to make up for hours when you don't have any work, and are able to put in the time to study and master the scheduling software, the work itself was not horrible. Just too many extraneous things slowing down the work process.
Exception - Been There
[ In Reply To ..]
You are an exception then. You must be on an account that hardly has any copies to look up because the account(s) that I was on all had at least 2 to 3 copies to look up, which includes looking up entire addresses and figuring out how to list them in their ridiculous system, which usually averaged between 3 to 5 minutes per report. So, let's say you typed 40 reports a day times at least 3 minutes per report, well you get the idea....
Accentus Acute Care - works there

Pros: They are a reputable company and are probably better than most. They pay on time. There is potential for advancement. They do not micromanage and pretty much leave you alone. Two weeks vacation first year, After a year, you earn 3 weeks.
Cons: Little to no communication. Scheduling is a nightmare and it takes forever to get any kind of response from the scheduling supervisor. Platform is okay, but not much advanced functionality. You must manually track and report your daily lines and times. Time is clocked strictly from time you open a file to the time you release it, so it often takes longer than 8 hours to complete a full day. Work flow is poorly managed. It is difficult to get secondary account as a new employee, and then only one backup account is allowed.
Some people love it, some people hate it. It all depends on how much and what type of baloney you are willing to put up with. Unfortunately, that is true with any MTSO these days.
I work there and totally agree with the above - anon

Very well summarized, and IMO it is still better than the other big 2. I would add to the pros that once you get used to their platform and your account you can easily make much more per line (especially when taking into account the bonuses) that at other companies (the main reason I am still there). The insurance is reasonable (especially compared to Nuance).
I would add to the cons that work flows are poorly managed and it isn't unusual even with 2 accounts to run out of work, and it usually takes me close to 9 hours to actually achieve their 8 productive hours. If Apex freezes and doesn't send your report (not that uncommon for me at least) you lose all of that, their system does not back anything up and they always act like you did something wrong. Also they have some of the strangest policies I have ever seen for getting secondary accounts, etc. and also they just sent e-mails to many of us who had secondary accounts for at least 2 accounts that I know of that those secondaries were being removed so that those who have these accounts as primaries would have enough work??? Then they have new people hired and working on my only remaining account and act shocked that there might be a problem?? So, I am waiting to see how it shakes out and so far I have been able to get in my time (with a LOT of flexing). It is an interesting company for sure with their strange way of doing things (compared to other major MTSOs I have worked for in the past)
So how do they calculate what is 8 hours? - by LPH? If so, what is it? NM

Hours - Been There
[ In Reply To ..]
They actually time you when you are in the reports, and you must be in the reports a total of 8 hours. They do not account for anything else except the time you are in the reports.
I refuse to be a timed IC - No way
[ In Reply To ..]
As an independent contractor I refuse to have anyone time me or tell me what hours to work. I'm independent because I want to choose my hours and my time. With On-Time that worked out just fine but Accentus doesn't want that. Oh well, good luck to them and all the new people since we old-timers quickly left the company.
I didn't know if they would but.... - Left
[ In Reply To ..]
Wasn't going to chance it. Was with On-Time for 9 years and left the day they informed us they sold. I was so sick of the new QA people who had no clue what they were doing. I've seen a lot of posts about Accentus and most aren't good and I figure the ones that are probably belong to QA people still there and are fake.
