Anyone have experience with Turn Around Time Transcription Co? Or Medrite XL platform? - KathyJ

Hi, I recently spoke to someone from Turn Around Time Transcription. I had found their ad on mtjobs.com. Does anyone have any knowledge of this company? They use the Medrite XL platform and the owner told me all the transcriptionists said it was an easy platform to work on, but then I looked it up and MTs were complaining about the line counts being so low. Any info on either the company or the platform? Thanks,

IMO, something is not right with their line counting system. I am not a slow typist and use instant text. I could barely make 350 lines a day when I started and finally merely 550 if I sat and nearly killed myself working without breaks or anything. The system is easy to learn, but is slow to do everything else. IMO the whole company was a bad experience, especially the QA lady who is inconsistent not to mention just plain nuts. The owner thinks she walks on water because she has been with him since day #1.

I didn't think anyone used Medrite anymore The last time I used it was 1998 or 1999. It was very slow then

That was pretty much the same thing I was finding on other websites, complaints about the low line count. That is disappointing. I was looking for a straight transcription account because I am on a VR account now and barely making minimum wage. But if I can only make 500 lines a day typing, it certainly won't be any different than making 1000 a day on VR. What happened to the days when transcriptionists actually got paid decent money for their skills? This is so frustrating. I went from typing out 300-400 lines an hour to being able to edit less than that at half the pay. It is so unfair!! And then the ones who DO offer straight transcription accounts- end up like this, someone always trying to make a buck and not pay their employees squat.

What happened? Its capitalism. Deal. :) - just saying

I really don't understand why Americans who have been trained to adore capitalism - don't get it when they *see* it in action. It is ALL about money - how much profit can be made. Do people REALLY not understand that these companies (public) answer to investors who demand greater and greater returns on their inve$tment$? And do people really think that the alternative to capitalism is communism? If so, it's now wonder Americans are so easily controlled.

That was a rhetorical question. I understand why it is happening- all companies want to save a dollar. That doesn't mean that I have to like it, or agree with it. I doubt there are any MTs out there who enjoy being paid 1/2 of what they were paid before.

Your question may have been rhetorical but it is repeated so often on here I thought it would be good to remind people that capitalism breeds an greedy, unfair system. So, there is really no point in whining about being treated as slave labor because that's about what we are...

capitalism is greed pure and simple.

It has far less to do with "saving a dollar" than in squeezing labor as far as possible in order to line the pockets of the rich and powerful.

Our wages don't keep going down so that the companies can 'save' a dollar - they go down, in large part, because CEO's make millions to keep profits as high as possible for investors.

What a shame the conversation isn't more about the understanding what capitalism is actually doing to our country - or an intelligent discussion by those who disagree.

the person I responded to was complaining about why pay has been slashed, and I merely pointed out one reason why... you are free to totally disregard the point I was making.

I almost don't want to reply again, because I'm quite certain at this point you are only trying to start an argument. If you are an MT, or are on this board for another reason, can you not understand why people might be frustrated by a 50% cut in our pay? Of course you can. You're obviously trolling the boards trying to get everyone riled up, and that's extremely ignorant. I'd venture to guess most of us reading your responses are intelligent individuals. We are well aware of what capitalism is and how it works. That being said, we are also hard workers who would enjoy being paid what we are worth. And yes, these boards are a place to come and complain, as well as to come and share information or good news. That's what they're here for. IF you are tired of seeing people "whine" about their lack of pay, or in some cases crappy employers, then why are you here exactly? To be the voice of reason? lol. First of all you took offense when none was meant.

Secondly you and others who are upset about having their pay cut 50% don't seem to understand or get WHY it is happening.

But just keep on complaining on these boards - I am sure THAT will change things immediately lol.

I work there and do not have an issue with line counts. I do not have an issue with Medrite XL either. And just for the record, I do not have any problems with their QA person.
