I had to laugh at their claim to "5,000 certified" transcriptionists! HAH! What a bunch of b.s. that is. They are charging what they should be paying YOU! And they don't charge extra for multi-speakers or groups? STAY AWAY - you won't make any money worth your time with them, I promise you.
That's kinda what I was thinking, so I tried to find any - trace of actual MTs that work there, and - sm

couldn't find a single thing. I sort of have the feeling that they don't really have any "live" transcriptionists, or very few, if any. There was a news story somewhere (forget whether it was TV or newspaper) where someone sent a video to them to be transcribed. I watched/listened to the video, and it was a piece of cake. The kind of thing any MT could transcribe with their eyes closed, using their toes. And then the story showed what came back, which they were charged $7 for. It appeared to be raw, unedited speech-recognition, and not a very good SR platform, either.
I guess that's how they get away with such low transcription rates. They tell people they have live transcriptionists, but the mess that this article said was transcribed for them most certainly was never seen by a set of human eyes.

Frustrated With The BOS 3rd Edition Being Web-based! Dec 30, 2009The pdf electronic version of BOS-2 was so handy and easy to use. Wonder what made them decide to do away with that & make it to where you have to open a browser, find the link, sign in, find the BOS page, etc., for the 3rd edition. It's so much more time-consuming, not to mention the search feature doesn't work nearly as well as the BOS-2 pdf version. For the first time ever, I can't wait for the 4th edition because surely nobody likes this & they will g ...
Is Focus Infomatics Really US-based Now? Jan 29, 2010A former manager of mine from "brand X MTSO" (in reality, a very dear friend now) got thrown under the bus. She knows how "QBay" does. She is considering an MT or QA job for Focus Infomatics. Focus claims to not offshore, and has offered my friend 8 cpl. That sounds terribly lame wage wise for all that experience.
When I couldn't drink the MQ Kool-Aid anymore, I was making a whopping 9 cpl. Of course, try doing the math on that formula come payday.

Mediscribes Based In Louisville? Right ;) Feb 27, 2014There may be one staff member in Louisville, but it's Indian owned. Dig a little deeper. That's your first red flag.
Your second red flag is the knowledge that last summer, once the US labor passed QA for Mediscribes, they immediately switched to their own Indian labor immediately afterwards, admitting freely that US labor on the account had done nothing wrong, QA wise or productivity wise.
None of the 22 US laborers were given new ...

I am thinking of expanding my skills as a medical coder, but before I spend a bunch of money learning this as well, I wanted to know if it is based on production or hourly?
