Any companies paying 9 cpl or above? sm - aversion to working for peanuts

I've been looking at the job ads and have noticed a trend of very low cpl being offered. Are there still any companies out there paying 9 or above? I'm tired of wasting my time testing for companies only to find out during the interview process that they're only willing to pay 7 or 8 cpl.

I don't think you'll find one where you can start out making over 9 cpl. If you can find a decent MTSO, they will increase your pay fairly quickly if you produce quality work. But, are you talking employee or IC?

company right now as a whole. I just hate to start all over again for less than I make now. Quality has never been an issue for me.

MQ pays that much, but they offshored most of my work and only left me with the worst of the worst dictators, so CPL doesn't really matter. I left there to make 8 CPL and actually end up making a lot more now than I did working for them. CPL isn't everything.

Same as other poster: MQ paid 9.75 but the 3 accounts assigned were so horrendous (sound quality & dictators---and with many years' experience, ESLs were never before a problem), they defied description. To add insult to injury, one particular QA was snippy and obnoxious and it took several complaints to higher-ups before she was brought under control. Not worth the bother. Left for 9 cpl at another, more professionally managed MTSO.

ESLs are not a problem for me. - Practice makes easy money of them

I make good money. A lot of newbies have problems with ESLs, but it is just a matter of practice. I have 3 accounts.

the time they will be paying UE. If they fire ya, eventually UE will run out. If they keep you as an employee, UE could go on a long time, on and off. Maybe this says nothing good about the overall work situation, if they are willing to let MTs go. It means TAT is easier to meet with fewer MTs and if they are willing to pay UE to ex-employees, tells me they know they will never have need of them again and eventually UE will run out. ...

Seriously. Why do you withhold this information? Would it not make more sense to post that right at the start so people know if they are even willing to test with you? It wastes your time, doesn't it, to review tests and resumes if your pay rate is not acceptable to people? Or it wastes someone else's time to grade the tests, then wastes the hiring person's time to review the information and make an offer if someone knows they won't ...

Just found this very interesting article about how MTSOs should consider charging by the minute instead of by the line. I imagine that would be a good idea for transcriptionists, because we would then be paid for the time we actually do transcribe versus by the line we may or may not transcribe. I just got a solicitation that an MTSO in Florida is for sale. It gives a breakdown of their accounts (not by name)showing how much they are charging the provider and how much they are paying the MT. For VR, they are getting 11 to 11.5 cpl and only paying the MT 4 cpl. FYI ...

I think I have been leading a bit of a sheltered life after reading some of the posts on this board lately. Here's my situation. I have worked IC for a local hospital for 5 years getting paid 0.15/line after leaving a 5 year position with MQ making 0.09/line.
