NJA - worse than ever

[ In Reply To ..]
I'm NJA on "T" account - we get low periods, but not like this - wonder if more is going on

I just realized Georgia is dealing with the snow thing. sm - Tired MT

[ In Reply To ..]
Apparently they are not used to dealing with snow of any kind, so a few inches of snow brought the Atlanta area to a standstill. Otherwise, I don't know. It has been awful lately. I don't know if they overhired, as usual, or if the ER is switching to EMR and the work just isn't there or what. Communication is horrible.

What most do not realize it was not just snow - here, ice that no one can get around on

[ In Reply To ..]
You cannot stand on it and walk, you cannot drive on it, just impossible. We had over 2000 children that could not be brought home from school, spending the night there. We had thousands of cars stranded on the freeways, traffic at standstill and people got out and walked to find something to eat, warmth, bathroom. Some people did not get home for over 20 something hours. National guard called in. I love it when people say just a couple of inches of snow when in reality the city along with the entire state was iced in with deaths, loads of accidents and other cities in the southeast got the same, Birmingham was one of those. I did not step outside my house until today, been home since Monday. The day then was 60+, non-sweater day, blue skies and the next day this is what happened. Again, please no more 2 inches of snow only! National guard today having to take stranded motorists back out to the freeways to recover their autos.
Did not mean I love it when there were - deaths, accidents
[ In Reply To ..]
that seemed to have come out a little wrong. Just getting off work, long day.
Wow ... I meant no insult. I have a friend in the area and she sm - Tired MT

was telling me about it. Having grown up in the Midwest with lots of snow and ice to deal with all of the time in the winter, I admit I was surprised there were so many problems, but it did not mean I do not have compassion for all of those who were stranded, in accidents, and worse. I can only imagine the fear, anger, etc. that everyone went through.

Actually, I was hoping that was the reason for the absolutely no work situation at the ER, but now with everyone talking about them using Dragon, I have my own fears to deal with that have nothing to do with the weather.

Glad things are getting back to normal for you.

has anyone else heard - NJA

[ In Reply To ..]
This past week, on more than 1 occasion and more than 1 doctor, at the beginning of their dictation has said they were dictating on this system because the Dragon/PDOC system was down. It sounds to me like they are making a system conversion and the NJA may become pemanent. Has anyone else heard this statement and thinking the same?

I heard the same thing, but was scared to post. This is not looking good.

Uhoh ... that doesn't bode well. Would be nice if they told us. nm - Scared MT

Yes I have heard the Dragon statement several times and after that I got several reports from that same doctor. That is definitely where our work is going.
I have been with OTI for several years, but time to polish up the resume. nm - Scared/Sad MT
[ In Reply To ..]
It would be nice if they had given us some kind of "heads up," but that would involve communication, which seems to be nonexistent anymore.

Has anyone asked the sisters about this? Or even one of the A's? sm - Tired MT

I have not heard them talking about Dragon, but it makes sense. The work is not there, even in the wee hours of the morning or on the weekends.

Great Line Counts Require Great Dictators.
Feb 11, 2015

I'm always over 200 until I get Mr. Mumblemouth who knows he is not forming actual words when he hums through the PE, as my counts plummet to as loiw as 75 LPH.   Then I get a long report from an excellent fast-talking dictator and my LPH jumps to 340.   Question:  Why is it that the MTSO does not comprehend the fact that our production depends on the capability of the provider to dictate correctly?   The horrid dictators are never told they are doing anything wrong as ...

MDI - And So It Begins!
Jan 20, 2010

Got the emails today about the changes in management.  I can't say that was much of a surprise.  However, for one of my accounts I got an email saying that from now on the dictation for this particular account is going from the hospital to BeyondTXT to Bayscribe.  I can't see the logic in adding that step unless they want to phase Bayscribe out of that account and get it on BeyondTXT and its VR.  Despite whether that turns out to be the case or not, it's so sad ...

Last 6-7 audits have been 99-100%.   New "rule" of 99% effective June 1.  Today's audit from June 7-14 shows a CRITICAL error. So it only took ONE week for the *$#*!) to begin.  Looks like it will be bye-bye for me soon.  So sad Q feels the need to drag out and torture hard-working, underpaid people psychologically first.  Total bunch of gutless wonders ! ...

The Countdown Begins
Feb 04, 2014

I have hopefully purchased my last Shorthand license.  I was planning on buying the 6-month but went with the 1-year just in case but will not be renewing it after that.  I am hoping by August to finally quit.  I need to spend the next week or 2 developing a list of goals and prioritizing that list (because there could always be something else to add and keeping me from quitting).  One thing will be really stocking up the pantry, etc.  The biggest hang-up right now is ho ...

I worked for LabCorp for 7 years - started at $14/hr - left 7 yrs later at $19.86/hour -- company has own credit card for employees -  called a Clear Card - available to ALL employees - Regular working hours. EASY transcription!!!  Could do it in my sleep!  Benefits.  Had a lot of overtime if you wanted it - ($28 an hour when I left - at time and a half).  I would recommend LabCorp to EVERYONE!  They also have data entry if interested.  lower pay, though.& ...

Taking Test, Foot Pedal Issue - Report Begins Over Every Time I Lift My Foot!
May 27, 2010

I am taking a test for a company and have gotten as far as taking the transcription portion.  I downloaded their file (pedalplugin-win) but whenever I lift my foot off play, the tape rewinds to beginning.  I cannot rewind or FF and autoplay to 0 isn't registering. Oh Just Great! NOT No OT Pay For Me.
Mar 03, 2011

I was just informed that, even though I worked OT in my time zone (PST) and before my shift (second shift), their day is in CST, so anything after their midnight (CST) goes to the next day - that days and hours count in CST. Geez, maybe I should be working my shift in CST hours. That could be nice. I would get to start 2 hours earlier and stop at a more decent hour. This stinks like week-old fish, and I'm thinking the Calif EED might look at it a different way! ...

ISN'T V.R. GREAT!!??!!
Sep 01, 2012

I edit radiology V.R. Reports and Had to post this one..This just goes to show you how well V.R. really works. It printed: Patient motion of skiers detail with multiple scans repeated multiple times to little of L. He said: Patient motion OBSCURES detail with multiple scans repeated multiple times to little AVAIL. Thank God this doctor knows he needs an editor. Most hospitals are letting the doctors "edit" their own work (which they don't do and just sign the stuff and let it go thru b ...

Great Grammar
Nov 14, 2009

It is very interesting to me, now that I have completed the Allied MT course, that grammar was were never taught, besides in high school. The BOS was required, but no emphasis was ever placed on needing excellent grammar skills. I am completely discouraged by the numerous negative and cynical remarks on this site.  MT is a field I choose because I wanted a second career. I am a recent widow, and frankly feel very down because of the many of the comments. Still without a job and very discou ...

A Great Clarification Of Buy-Out
Feb 04, 2010

Please see the following article from - I think - Business Week, regarding the buy-out of Spheris.  I think it should make us all breathe a little easier.  It seems to clarify that there are 2 separate worlds, and that MQ intends to keep its U.S.-based transcription entirely separate from CBay's India-based transcription: Spheris, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in a Delaware court on Wednesday, already has two buyers lined up for the privately owned company: MedQuist Inc. ...

Why Is It When You Are Having A Great Production Day,
Jun 07, 2010

the work seems to disappear? I was doing over 400 lph and now no work. This happens every time I have great lph. Can companies do a switch-a-rooney, keeping the work away from people or can the platform be 'fixed' that if you hit a certain lph, no work will download to you? I'm really curious about this. I've been watching this happen for a couple months now. ...

This Is Great......I Love It!!!!!!
Aug 16, 2010

So, I got this super long report with HORRIBLE audio.  When I got finished it looked like a piece of Swiss cheese it had so many blanks.  I didn't even CONSIDER sending it to QA as the audio was just terrible and there was NO way I was sending a report that long...and then get paid 3 cents a line because it might put me over 5% QA submission.  So, I just sent it straight through, expecting to get a call from my CCM on why I sent so many blanks, which, of course I was prepared ...

CLK Is Great To Work For As An IC

I Have A Great Idea
Aug 19, 2011

Why don't all of us who are tired of everything join forces and form our own company.  We live all over the country, know how to do the work, know how to QA, know different platforms.  Hundreds of us together could market our own vicinity and work together like a coop.  We would all make the big bucks.  It has to work, as we are the people who keep the large companies in business.  Coops work with any other business, why not with this.  What do you think ...
