This idea of starting a line off of the original string of conversation is silly. Throws the forum off and makes your statements seem silly and useless. IMO the conversations should stay on the same string.

How 'bout I start one too! I'll just say "OMG! Did you see that??" and then just leave the message box blank... :o)

That's how it's always been for me. Tons of work available on accounts I DO NOT TYPE ON. Then when I've asked to be moved to one of them, they ignore my requests.

I really like the people at Oracle and have had good experiences EXCEPT when it comes to the work load and asking for more work. I suppose they figure if they over-hire, enough will quit that they will get a good mix, but for me, it was my only job (until I found another part-time one), so I depended on consistent amounts of work. I have bills to pay and young kids! I maxxed out a credit card this year just trying to survive, with promises that new accounts were on the horizon.

I finally wised up and realized that I can't depend on them to help me make my ends meet, so I got another part-time job with consistent amounts of work.

I think the more work types you know, the more work you have consistently. If you are limited to a certain work type, i.e., cardiology, psych, ER - there is only so much work to go around. If you do the whole acute care thing from A to Z, you never run out of work and I think are always accommodated anywhere you work. No matter where I've been, I have a constant workload because my specialties are not limited to a few. Just a thought - wondered if those that are out of work fit in the category of certain work types only? JMO.

experience in multiple specialties, clinical and acute care, and I still ran out of work with Oracle often until I moved on. The problem is that, again, as so many have stated, they over hire and have done so for years.

I am just so exasperated right now! I'm a new MT, been at it a little over 3 months. I think the company I work for is pretty good. We have mostly good dictators, good platform, plenty of work, and nice QA and staff. I type 70 wpm, and I add to my word expander and autocorrect daily. Feeling so frustrated that MDs can't be bothered to articulate... The company I work for "dings" me for blanks...but their QA is merciless about mistakes. Why is it that when a doctor cannot pronounce a medication they will spend FIVE minutes TRYING to sound it out and STILL leave me with no clue what they are trying to say, when it would be MUCH quicker if they could just SPELL it? I mean if you can't pronounce it, just SPELL it, even if you spell it wrong, I can find it quicker from it being spelled to me incorrectly than having to decipher out how you MIGHT be pronouncing it! CRITICAL ERRORS - Okay, a patient comes into the hospital, gravely ill. They take some xrays (I am radiology so I use that example). Maybe a CT or an MRI.
