They gotta be getting desperate - old and burned out

Posted: Feb 16, 2012

After not being audited since last August, I just received an audit.  Do you suppose it was because I went over my CCM's head and complained to her supervisor about not hearing from her regarding the loss of a 10 minute report when DQS went down?  I thought they were going to slam me but, lo and behold, a near-perfect audit.  They gotta be getting desperate for MTs who can transcribe this crap and make it even moderately coherent.  Next time I think I'll leave profunda for Morris in the report along with foraminal valley.

profunda for Morris! forminal valley! LOL - nm - underappreciatedMT

Thanks I needed a good laugh - too funny. Yes ASR is very scary some of the things that come out on the reports.

You might be right about that - not saying

I get audited every month and always pass, but it's like whoever is doing it goes out of their way to get a pass. I even had one set with a critical error in one of five reports and still passed.

We must look pretty good - old and burned out

compared to the ILPs. I long ago stopped changing diagnosis to diagnoses, stopped researching if I have only a few blanks, have never paid any attention to the Book of Style, needless to say do not use Benchmark, do not fix grammar any more, do not remove incorrect punctuation, etc. I just try to record correct information and here I am with a 99.8% audit. Go figure.

are you serious? I get dinged for every little thing. - what the what?

How is this even possible...
Can only guess - old and burned out

I know it's unfair but there is nothing about this company that is fair. My guess is twofold: 1. The work is so bad that mine looks good in comparison to the rest of what they get. (I worked in the office for 30 years so I know what the general quality of the work is like.) 2. I am flexible part-time and get no benefits at all so I don't cost them very much.
I agree - Woreout

I quit using BOS long ago myself, but not correcting punctuation? ASR doesn't know what a punctuation mark is. It rarely puts in commas in any report I've done, and does good to know where to put a period. The one thing ASR does that I got fed up with editing is "patient" from "the patient." I don't care if the doctor is clear as day saying "patient," ASR will put "the patient" every time." If I fail an audit on that, so be it.

go figure - right there with you

In fact, long ago on the ASR training the lady told us not to even worry about punctuation, because we were "training" it. How long exactly does it take to learn? By the way, anyone notice the British spelling of words making its way through ASR- appearence instead of appearance etc.? Guess the Indians must be more influential.

Not only do I do all that you mentioned I also eliminated the skip/redundant markers. Always passed my audits too and have increased my line counts tremendously. Honestly I think corporate likes to talk a big game about "quality" but what they really mean is quantity, faster, faster, faster, get those reports through.

How about this one? I always seem to get audited - and written up with - sm

"warnings" right after I use my PTO for a few days off. It's happened 3 times now, so I know it's not a coincidence.

Desperate..
Feb 01, 2010

I am working for a supposedly "good company" as employee and thus far, no complaints from anyone... boss, QA, etc. I am not getting work, its trickling in and when inquiring, all I get is "we are slow." What would you do?  I am used to being an IC, but took employee status as there is just nothing out there and different company experiences in looking for an IC position in the past year have been very troubling, to say the least. I am being polite here in describing this scenario. ...

Is This Desperate Or What???
Sep 05, 2010

Okay, get this!  About 9 months ago, I was sending out resumes, etc looking for a different position (I used to work for Spheris but bailed when things started going bad, thank god!).  Anyway, since then I have received about 3 emails from the Q regarding employment, in which I did not respond as I have found a position I am happy with.  The other day they actually CALLED and asked if I was still interested in a position with them.  It took all I had not to actually laugh in ...

Desperate For Information!
Nov 29, 2010

I am an MT with 15+ years experience. Had to leave the field to be a caregiver for several years and now, 5 years later, want to return to working. From what I am reading, I am out of luck. I've searched high and low trying to find out about refresher courses or what I would need to do to get back into the field. It seems most companies want anywhere from 1 to 5 years of RECENT experience. Does anyone know if there is a way that I can brush up on my skills or any helpful input? It is really ...

TransTech Must Be Getting Desperate
May 12, 2014

A friend of mine applied at TransTech a while back and she was told at that time that she did not pass the test.  Well, she just called me and told me that she just got a call from them this morning offering her a job anyway, which she respectfully declined.  I guess no one wants to work for them anymore if they're now resorting to offering positions to people who didn't even pass their test! ...

Desperate For Help With DocQScribe Issues
Apr 22, 2011

For almost a year now, I've had problems with DocQScribe off and on, fortunately only about 10% of the time I'm on it.  But when these problems hit, they are so severe I can't work.  DocQScibe "sticks", won't back up, and the audio keeps playing even when I take my foot off the pedal.   It cuts my ability to produce to less than half, as I'm wrestling with DocQScribe more than transcribing.  NOBODY has been able to help me with this.  I' ...

Desperate Softscript Now Running Weekly Ads

Desperate Need Of Part-time Employment
Jan 07, 2014

I am looking for something part time, like 15 hours a week. If anybody can message me and let me know of what companies can get me tested and hired soon, that would be great. Also, it is a definite to avoid companies with issues, especially those who don't pay. I know, all companies have issues. I work part-time as a teacher's aide and really thought they would have me full time by now. Well, they don't and I'm getting in a hole I can't climb out of without a second job. ...

Gotta Wonder
Mar 23, 2010

Just Gotta Gripe
Oct 30, 2009

I am just so exasperated right now!  I'm a new MT, been at it a little over 3 months.  I think the company I work for is pretty good.  We have mostly good dictators, good platform, plenty of work, and nice QA and staff.  I type 70 wpm, and I add to my word expander and autocorrect daily.  Our minimal required line count per week is 6,000, and I'm only averaging about 3,500 to 3,800.  I'm putting in 50 hours or a little more and still can ...

OK Gotta Write This
Jun 17, 2010

ASR:  tachy fell axis I am wiping the tears from my eyes on this one.  What a stupid program.  I swear it is written by the Indians.  I had a wonderful English-speaking clear-as-day doctor yesterday, first name of Daniel, and the ASR did not get 75% of his dictation.  It was just words and gibberish.  It was a crying shame.  That could have been a helpful tool in that instance.  It should have been able to transcribe him perfectly and editing should have ...

Gotta Vent!
Dec 11, 2011

Okay guys, I just have to vent because I know many of you share the same frustrations and will understand where I'm coming from. I've got over 10 years of transcription experience and I'm making $10 an hour. This is a $5 per hour cut from what I made in a larger city before I had to move to a smaller one in a different state. I got divorced earlier this year and this is no longer enough to survive on for me with just one income in the household now. I pride myself on being a good, ...

Gotta Gripe
Jul 19, 2012

I've got a gripe.  I hope this is not too long but would really like suggestions if any of my fellow MTs have been in this predicament.  If you are QA turned MT, don't bother to reply.  I don't need sarcasm to start my day. The company I worked for went into partnership with another company.  The new company even changed the name of the company and the new partner is the president of the company.  We're supposed to make all complaints to her; however ...

Gotta Vent
Oct 24, 2014

I am doing a dictation from a doctor who sounds like he's got a mouth full of mush.  His speech is slurred and I can't understand half of what he's saying.  As a result, this report is going to QA with so many blanks in it that it looks like Swiss cheese.  At this point I really don't care any more. I've had it up to my eyeballs with this guy and everyone like him.  If I could afford to quit, I would right now. ...

Nov 17, 2014

Feeling so frustrated that MDs can't be bothered to articulate... The company I work for "dings" me for blanks...but their QA is merciless about mistakes. (Non-critical, stupid grammatical issues, i.e., "The son agreed with the plan" versus "HIS son agreed with the plan.") I am feeling like I can't do this anymore. I am GOOD at what I do, but when audio sucks, what do they expect?  I am screwed no matter what I do. If I made more than $13 an hour, (which took me ye ...

Feb 22, 2010

Why is it that when a doctor cannot pronounce a medication they will spend FIVE minutes TRYING to sound it out and STILL leave me with no clue what they are trying to say, when it would be MUCH quicker if they could just SPELL it?  I mean if you can't pronounce it, just SPELL it, even if you spell it wrong, I can find it quicker from it being spelled to me incorrectly than having to decipher out how you MIGHT be pronouncing it! Just my rant for today, lol. ...

CRITICAL ERRORS - Okay, a patient comes into the hospital, gravely ill.  They take some xrays (I am radiology so I use that example). Maybe a CT or an MRI.  The radiologist is allerted this is a rush because the patient is so ill, he calls the report to the MD taking care of the patient to let him know what he sees.  Then, after he calls the report, he dictates it, and I type it...I make a mistake and put, lets say, no congestive heart failure noted, because he mumbles and talks ...
