First off, hospitals will not bring it back, second who will apply. Most MTs are at retirement age and this is not a job that younger people are interested in. Even if it hangs on, look at the pay, IC status, no incentive, no raises, no PTO, nothing.
Even if you work now as an MT, it is a heartless, low paying job, with high demands.
I agree with the switchboard operator and newspaper business and so many other jobs that have been replaced by technology. Sad but true, but you would be better served, exploring the new age instead of thinking this job will ever come back or even improve with what we have.
