I can definitely blame the post office in my case - SM

Like I said in my original post, our neighborhood went an entire week without receiving a single mail delivery. Today was the first delivery we've had since Wednesday or Thursday of last week, so our post office is definitely having serious issues. I filed a complaint on the USPS website and received a response from our local postmaster this morning saying that they have had 13 carriers out sick and are extremely behind. They were scrambling and trying to get people to work on their days off to help them get caught up on their deliveries.

Yes, we are all fully aware that mailing checks can be risky; however, there is nothing that we can do about it as it's beyond our control. I only work here part-time, so this is supplemental income for me, but I still want my check. My checks always arrive in a timely manner and this is the first time there's been a delay in an entire year. I'm very confident that the postal service is likely the culprit of this delay.
