I've been editing for several years, and it's still poop. It's just a ripoff. I've been told by companies that they have people who make way more money with editing than they did in transcription. When I have complained about the poop, I've been told they have transcriptionists who love editing so much, they'd never go back to straight typing. I can't believe that by any stretch of the imagination unless they were crappy typists to begin with.

They'll tell you it's your problem, but trust me, it isn't. A lot of these companies are regularly posting job ads, which I believe is because they can't keep employees, pay just isn't worth it when you work your butt off, look at your line count, do the math and see you earned 5 to 7 bucks an hour. Not even worth it for a part-time gig.

I find editing to be more work and a drastic pay cut. I could get 300-400 lines per hour easy with straight typing. I have spent years building up a shorthand dictionary which is pretty much useless in editing. I hit my editing quota maybe 2 days a month.
I'm getting out of the MT field soon for this very reason. Tired of the poop.
