Laid off - AQuity MT

I was laid off in late March after 17 years and excellent quality/metrics. I was told the reason was due to restructuring that deemed my position was no longer needed. In my severance packet was included a listing of 17 other MTs and 1 HDSM positions with ages ( no names) laid off the same day and the ages ranged from 50-63 years old. Coincidence or are they laying off employees of older ages for some reason? Just wondering if anyone else has experienced a similar layoff?
