If he wants to humiliate himself, wants to make himself the butt of jokes, and see what people really think of him then let him go for it.
He's apparently proud of his stupidity, obviously doesnt care if people are laughing at him, if that's the kind of attention he wants, let him have it. Then he can whine to his crew how unappreciated his awkward and pathetic sense of humor is.
