They could have said, "We aren't paying for spaces anymore, but the VBC that you do type will pay more so that you don't earn less money." If it was really a problem and not just a way to make more money off the transcriptionists on the part of the MTSOs, that is what they would have done, and I doubt anyone would have complained.

Because seriously... doing something like sticking two spaces at the end of a paragraph, or something like that... how many extra lines could a transcriptionist "steal"? Maybe 1 extra line for every 200 or 300 lines? Maybe 40 extra pennies per day?

And if they were catching transcriptionists who were slapping on 500 or 600 spaces at the bottom of reports? That's overcharging, fraud, and theft, plain and simple. Any transcriptionist who did that should have been shown the door immediately, and possibly charged with a crime depending on how bad it was.
