I've been in this business for many years and what I don't get is why these people are coddled and babied so much. No one wants to hurt their poor little feelings by telling them to slow down, speak up and speak clearly - you'd think common sense for anyone on the planet!!
This is more than just a pet peeve of mine with this job - it puts my job on the line if I can't meet production standards because of all the sloppy and pitiful dictation slowing me down. From day one, dictators should have had basic dictation standards to comply with, and if not done, then no dictation privileges allowed to that person - period. Now, all these years later it's taken for granted that someone else will clean up their mess.
