Every employer I have worked for requires abbreviations for mg and dL, etc., as expanding them is considered line padding (BOS rule or their own guideline). With that said, I have used both the virgule or the word per in this case and have never had QA points taken off. Does your employer require BOS or have their own guidelines. If so, you might want to ask them how they want this done but feel it would be safe for you to use a virgule unless they tell you otherwise. I would NOT expand mg or dL ever. I hope this helps.
