BOS - CEMT

In the BOS, the closest I can find that is relevant to what you're asking is this: "Spell out common nonmetric units of measure...Do not abbreviate most nonmetric units of measure, except in tables. No not abbreviate nonmetric units in virgule constructions except when the expression combines a metric with a nonmetric unit." Examples (in BOS):

The baby weighed 8 pounds 9 ounces.
She gave the child 2 tablespoons of Motrin.
She weighs in 3 days per week.
Her IV was set to run at 10 mcg/min.

Not sure if that's exactly what you were asking, though.
