This post makes me boil with anger at any company that claims you to be an IC, but demands mandatory ANYTHING, much less unpaid meetings and "Friday is a workday" when Friday isn't on your contracted schedule. For one thing, since they require you to even have a schedule, they shouldn't bug you about working outside of it. This company needs to be reported to DOL for treating ICs worse than employees. But this is not news. They also control you because you might need the job and don't want to make waves. In my area, I was able to report a company to DOL and DOL promised to not reveal my name to the company I was reporting.
