I think it can work out well. My sister had been one for years and just retired. She had to put up with a lot of crap in the office, had to work hard, but had great bonuses and it paid very well and she had good benefits. Was in estates and trusts in Sacramento CA. The only downside was that when she wanted to leave a firm and join another, it took her a long time to find a job opening anywhere.
