The way it was when it worked - CEMT

Posted: Feb 19th, 2017 - 8:56 pm In Reply to: Just not understanding the HDSMs - CEMT

For example in DM's group, back when MC was supervisor, so back in 2013 or so:

The backlog built and we started off most mornings with pretty large backlogs that kept us busy all day and only started to dry up by about 9 p.m.

Only opened it up to part-timers or called for OT when absolutely necessary.

When opening it up to PT or OT, she asked for specific email commitments. Once she had enough, she immediately sent out an email saying she had enough.

That way, there was no risk of completely drying up the backlog for scheduled folks.

I don't see what was wrong with doing it that way either. Seems like a win-win. We were more productive and happier. We weren't constantly saddled with overflow/cesspool accounts. Clients happy. MTs happy. And HDSM and HDSM's supervisors happy because work wasn't late and no NJA.

Wouldn't that still be better all around (?). Anyway, DM is great, and so was MC. We have been lucky that way! I just notice this huge difference in how backlog is handled the past few years and it's frustrating.

Wish they would change it back and just don't understand why it can't be like that anymore.
