They only have to pay minimum wage in Ohio - all smiles

Posted: Nov 6th, 2016 - 6:52 pm In Reply to: Fiesa and working off the clock - laws

The wage and labor division at the state capital in Ohio: They only have to pay you minimum wage. So how many hours yearly are you giving them off the clock?

"About 69-75."

"What is your average hourly pay?"

"About xxxx."

"Okay, that means you are getting about $9 per hour, so they are paying you the minimum wage and that is all they have to do."

"But, you mean they can require me to work more than 40 hours and some of it undocumented?"

"Yes, they can work you 24/7/365 in this state. They do not have to give you any time off at all, no breaks, no lunch."

"But are you sure?"

"Yes, as long as it works out to minimum wage, they can do that."

SHEESH. Every industry needs a Union.
