Just don't give them your social security number or driver's license number until you know for sure what's going on. If they ask for it on the application, just put 000-00-0000 and say "will be provided". I know they all want to do background checks nowadays, but this should be done ONLY after you've at LEAST been interviewed or hired and it's time to do the paperwork. That's the way I do it, anyway. If they don't understand the logic in that, then that would be worrisome.
