I belonged to a union as a hospital employee for 17 years. They did little to nothing for administrative staff, MTs included. If a union is powerful enough, they can enact change. Unions don't seem to carry the weight they used to. Sad because you cannot trust employers to do right by their employees. If given the opportunity to do wrong, employers can and will abuse their employees. In the MT world, ICs are just as much, if not more, victims of abuse, and there has not been a collective group to do anything to protect this large group of people. Something indeed needs to be done. Not sure unions as they are today are the answer. The ultimate answer, I think, is for people to stop working in conditions that are detrimental to them. This could start with a mass walkout on the part of the MTs to start.
