Yes, the MTSO can contract for certain hours because certainly they need those hours covered. However, then they are asking for an EMPLOYEE. SIMPLE AS THAT my dear. As far as them finding someone that will, this is where the MTs need to stick together and tell the MTSOs if they want a shift, pay the taxes and benefits. MTSOs should not hire ICs if they do not know what they are. Again, if they want certain hours covered, step up to the plate and pay the price of benefits and taxes. If not, what they are doing is lining their pockets by requesting employee requirements of ICs and it is illegal. You know, it doesn't really take a genius or a law degree to figure this out.
