I have worked for a company for 4 years as a statutory employee. I never pay federal during the year. When I do taxes I can claim home office, expenses etc...just as if I worked as an IC. I get a great refund! If this place hired you as statutory, then they did nothing wrong. You should pay more attention when you get hired and fill out paperwork. I doubt the IRS will do anything because they did nothing wrong.
