EHR versus voice wreck - all smiles

Posted: Mar 21st, 2016 - 2:18 am In Reply to: Doubtful that they have refused to convert to EHR since it is a requirement - of the Affordable Care Act.

EHR is electronic health record which has nothing to do with voice/speech wreck.

The idea is all patient records are electronic, no paper records. The electronic records are shared between hospitals/clinics within the same system.

UP side: All your records within one system are available to all in that system.

DOWN side: All the mistakes in your records are available to all in that system.

It took me over a year to get an error taken out of the system - because only the person who entered it could delete it - and I had no idea who entered it.

That is a serious and could be very fatal flaw to these EHR systems.

Funny thing, with our system linked to their system, how come we cannot access reports from another hospital within the same system?

How come we cannot access the provider inputted notes like HP, progress notes, etc.

Sure would be nice to have a little more information when Dr. Mumbles dictates.
