Whenever my license is about to expire, I use it as a time to consider whether or not I plan to stay on. Right now, I am renewing it for 3 months at a time. I would not do the job without it though and because I do not intend to stay, would rather pay the money every 3 months than expend the energy learning something new.
In case you do not know, you have 15 days after the license expires to get a new one before the program stops working. Mine will stop working at the end of May and if I decide to stop working, my 2 week notice will be given during that 15 day period after the license expires.
