I retired a year before my full retirement age. I think you did a smart thing. For me, it was a quality of life issue, and it sounds like the same thing for you, too. I have a friend who took early SS and kept on working and when she reached full retirement age, she got a nice, fat check! Although I am already on SS, I wanted to tell you how well written your post was and to tell you that I think it will be really helpful to other people. I wish you all the best!
