If you haven't been an IC for at least 2 years you may face banks willing to give loans but at higher interest rates, even when you've been working in the same field for many years. Once I hit that 2 year mark I had no problem at all getting a mortgage at the market level at that time and have refinanced since then when interest rates lowered without any problem.
