trying a different site: http://www.theftwtranscriber.com/

Their website says "plays huge range of file types (now including dss/ds2)"

After you install it, it installs a few codecs automatically, so just let it run its course. Then, if you have any trouble with dss/ds2 files, here's the codec to manually install, but I believe it should work without doing that, can't remember, but then again it doesn't hurt to go ahead & install the Olympus codec anyway! http://www.theftwtranscriber.com/OlympusCodec.msi

I used the free version a while, but I liked it so I paid the $24 for 2 years to get rid of the ads & haven't regretted it. It doesn't have as many high-tech features as the expensive ones do, but I never use those features anyway. I just needed something to play dss files, have good sound quality, & not cost a fortune.
