Scribes vs MTs - JustAnMT Posted: Oct 15th, 2015 - 10:05 am In Reply to: scribe vs. mt - biteme
Remember when we got all cranky when someone called us typists. Then we had a snottier title of speech language specialists.
Did everyone read the post on this site about the scribe who had to document a physician visit in real time, but needed to remember details after the encounter because she/he could not keep up with the physician during the appointment? Scary stuff.
Keep in mind that it appears that the scribe advertisements are starting their pay at around 10 or less an hour.
Physicians or facilities are adding another layer of employees to their staffing. But why? Transcriptionists were doing this same job effectively for years, so why resort to lesser qualified people to perform as scribes in place of transcriptionists?
