I have been an IC for years and have never had to do this. I don't even need a license because it is considered "income" as an independent contractor and not a "business." when you only have 1 person or company you type for and no employees, you do not have to classify yourself as a business. it is like babysitting. if you just babysit at home for 1 or 2 kids you don't need a license, but when you have more (not sure of the exact number maybe 5) you do need to get a business license.
