Actually, it does hurt them in the long run, because the more unemployment claims submitted by a company, the higher the premium. Companies have to pay a premium for unemployment insurance just like any other insurance and the more claims, the higher the premium. That is why some companies try to fight unemployment claims and why they try to get you to leave on your own any way they can.
