MRI of the brain tumor - angel456

Posted: Dec 04, 2010

I am working on an x-ray report for an MRI of a brain tumor.  I have looked on the internet and many medical books.  There are 3 words that I cannot figure out.

1st sentence:  On the pregadolinium coronal thin slice images through the sella, some residual soft tissue prominence is identified within the sella.  Appearing more prominent to the patient's right than to the left.  This idia enhances with gadolinium administration and corresponding today's study with the previous exam of September 6, '95.

2nd sentence:  No evidence of minimal increase in soft tissue density is noted.  Slight deviation of the infundibulum is noted.  No other obvious evidence of abnormality or other areas of abnormal enhancement are noted.  No evidence of impression upon optikase misoctified.

I spelled those 3 words phonetically.  I hope someone can help me.

I think the first sentenence should just say "area." This "area" enhances with gadolinium... makes sense to me. The second one is a bit more mystifying for me. I am thinking something along the lines of "optic nerve" but I have no idea what the "misoctified" could be.

I agree with the poster above that idia=area.

"and corresponding" doesn't make sense to me. Could they be saying "in comparing"?

2nd sentence: No evidence of minimal increase doesn't make sense. Could they be saying something like "there is evidence of minimal increase..."?

For the last part, consider "No evidence of compression upon _____ is identified."

I can't fill in that blank, but maybe if you relisten with "is identified" in mind, it might sort itself out. Maybe it's optic nerve or something?

Could it be optic chiasm / something fied - Just wild guesses

Just throwing out some words in case it sets off a light in someone else’s brain -

optic chiasm is calcified / identified / ossified  / something fied

Sorry I couldn't do better.  Hope you find the right words.

My problem with this one is: Subsequently, (formal?) T1-weighted images were followed.... and
This is probably related to a transphenodial pituitary; this (concession?) in this patient.
I know those aren't the correct words but they are what it sounds like. Indian accent. Any help is appreciated.

I am working on the same one right now and the first sentence I'm pretty sure is Subsequently, "coronal" T1-wighted images. The second is This is probably related to a transsphenoidal pituitary "resection" in this patient... because down in the impression section, it was discussing a hypophysectomy.
My issue was these two sentences:
1.(Roentegals) and cisterns are symmetrical. 2. The (periton) appears minimally changed from the previous study. Do you have any ideas for either of those words?

MRI Of Brain Tumor With Indian Accent

Any help is appreciated.  I'm stuck on 2 words. 1. Sagittal T1-weighted images were followed by axial proton density and T2-weighted images.  Subsequently, formal T1-weighted images were followed by postgadolinium. 2. On the nongadolinium enhanced T2-weighted images, increase signal is identified within the left sphenoid sinus.  This is probably related to a transphenodial pituitary; this concession in this patient. I know these aren't the correct words but they sound ...

Tumor Marker Question
Nov 14, 2012

Dictated "CEA was elevated at 29, CA 15.3 at 1938, and CA 27.29 was elevated at the outset at 2243." My questions are regarding the CA 15.3 of "1938" and the CA 27.29 of "2243." Should they be "19.38" and "22.43" or "1938" and "2243"? When I'm googling the reference ranges for CA 15.3, a value of 19.38 doesn't seem to be elevated; neither does a value of 22.43 for CA 27.29. But.. 1938 and 2243 seem awfully high. Can someone please help me with this? Thanks!!! ...
