switching to the new program eBeyondTXT - Carol

Posted: Mar 19, 2013

With switching to the new program eBeyondTXT I am not noticing much difference from before with the old program.  It takes just as long to download a job and half the time I am getting the spinning circle showing the slowness of the program. The things that did change is the account I was working on is now an all edit account.  I also noticed that instead of 2 spaces between each sentence it is now only 1 space.  I was also wondering why the use of the bookmarks at the beginning and end of the report.  I am figuring we are not getting paid for headers that we have to fill in and with the end bookmark at the end of the last paragraph I suppose we don't get paid for signature line, etc. Guess I am slow, but I am starting to smell something fishy.  I don't see how I am going to make any money at 4 cents a line and having to fix so much in each report.  It's like VR is not even trying.  I am starting to worry about getting fired if I can't up my line count too.  Sorry, but I am just not as excited as they were saying we would be with the new program.  Am I the only person noticing this stuff?

Giant step backward - MT

BeyondTxt was by no means a good program, but EBeyondTxt is an absolute nightmare. It's like moving from computer to typewriter with carbon paper. Making and ending lists is now a hassle when before it was extremely simple. Not being able to see at all times the demographic screen is a big drawback. However, the greatest weakness is the incredibly awful audio player. This antiquated platform and DaPlayer have been forced on us for one reason only--the big dogs hope to save money by using company's own speech engine instead of M-Modal's. Nuance, quit peeing on our legs and telling us it's raining.

Did this change just happen on Beyond Text? I am waiting for this to happen to my account and dreading it.

Thank you in advance.

Yes, as far as I know. Those of us who were on BeyondTxt are now having to use eBeyondTxt. I guess the "e" stands for excruciating.

Uh oh...I'm with Accentus, afraid they will do same to us - anon

At Accentus we used M*Modal, and we are now Nuance but they haven't taken us off yet. I am sure it will happen, but was hoping we would get a good platform. I have another friend who is pulling her hair out over this change, she says it is not functional at all. What else can they do to beat us down??

I would not dread it. It is not fun, there is a learning curve, but--sm - anon

you will recover and do okay. I am not feeling the love for the new platform, but it can be handled. It will not be the end of the world but will make the world a little more cumbersome. Many of the commands are the same so that will help in the transition.

I think the "e" stands for expedient. It was expedient for them to switch to a platform they did not have to pay more for.

This system is about as functional as systems I worked on in the late 90s and early 2000s. No integration between audio and text except they download together. The audio player leaves EVERYTHING to be desired, the system has not learned the heading/subheadings for accounts, it hasn't learned other odd specifics for the accounts, and honestly the M-Modal draft was just as good. Just put us on Escription or any other platform and let us make some money. I'm probably going to be let go because I can't make lines and I need a second job.

Funniest subject line of the year...sorry the story is so sad, though, good luck!

stealing spaces - anon

After looking over the last 100 jobs or so that I have done, them making it one space after a period effectively nips 4 to 8 cents per report from our pay. In an average pay period this is about $20, and while small its really just adding insult to injury, but if you think about it on a grander scale, they claim to have 5000+ MLS. If they take $20 from 5000 MLS every two weeks that's over 2 million dollars a year. The rat hole gets deeper.

Thank you for doing the math! - Carol

All I am seeing is the greed this company has at this point. I'm just trying to get over the big paycut I just took and the lies about how it will get better. Unfortunately, my motivation has taken a big hit!

Thanks to everyone, was thinking it was just me. - Carol

I could not understand on the team phone calls why the other MTs were saying how wonderful this change was, so I just kept my mouth shut and figured it was just me. Again, thanks for making me feel not so alone in this! Now all I need to do is get this nauseous feeling to go away, ha ha!

Switching To VR
Feb 01, 2010

Would some of you share your experience of going from Dictaphone ExText to VR.  Anything positive at all?  Our company will be going that route and we will be paid hourly so salary should not be a factor.  The bottom line is, it is happening.  I would appreciate hearing from MTs whose companies have switched over; the good, bad and ulgly.  Thanks.   ...

Switching From FT To PT Advice...
Jan 17, 2014

I am currently working for my MTSO full time, however I would like to go down to part time (still get benefits). I've been tentatively offered a FT nanny position for a dear friend of mine who would pay me cash to take care of her baby, either my house or hers (we live 5 miles apart). I told her I need to think about it as I am currently FT with my MT job, but I am seriously thinking about going down to PT to still have my MT job and insurance (which I need). BeyondTx Question: I Will Be Switching

Local Area Switching To VR
Mar 13, 2012

I have always worked for local hospitals and doctor's offices.  I have never worked through a company, but with most of our local area switching to VR I am having to look to companies for work.  In our local area our transcriptionists usually are paid about 12 cents per line,  but I am noticing most companies pay is substantially lower as i saw an ad for Sten Tel paying only 5-6 cpl.   Could anyone tell me what the norm is for pay with companies?  Thanks for all help. ...

Chartscript Font Switching?

Dictaphone Switching Between Headset And Handset Problem

When I am using my Dictaphone listening through the headset sometimes the audio switches away from the headset and sounds like it is coming through the handset. I have tried two different Dictaphones with the same issue, although I used the same headset with each one. Maybe it's a pr ...
