monitoring schedules - new but old

Got a phone call yesterday from TL questioning my being short on my time card.  I had sent in OOW email etc and followed protocol as on that prior Saturday had run out of work which is typical for Saturdays with who I type for, but am still being questioned and was told to take PTO Time to make my 40 hours week.  Said that they were going over making sure everyone was working their assigned schedule. 

TSM needs to get honest and informed. You dont need - to take PTO, not required. nm

They have begun micromanaging even more with the metric. Don't answer the phone. You followed OOW procedures. This may be bullying. Not sure. I would not answer my phone next time. They can't fire you for not answering phone and if you follow proper procedure. They can't make you take PTO for their lack of work.

If I'm short, I'm short. I also do not work outside my schedule. I have a life. I save PTO for when I want to be off. They cannot legally make you use PTO for being OOW. Let them tell me to use my PTO - I'll be on the phone to a well-known labor law attorney in my state who actually advertises for "not paid for your OT, etc."

If you run out of work during your scheduled time, they cannot make you take PTO! AND you should put OOW on time clock when you are out. By law, they have to pay minimum wage. Do not be intimidated!

Yep, that's the truth. Punch out with OOW as reason and run the clock out. I got paid minimum wage make-up for 2 pay periods now and not a peep out of them.

About this monitoring crap.  Why aren't the docs monitored?  Why do we have to change our ways and they don't have to.  On ASR there are a couple of docs who dictate in the "wrong order" and I have to move everything around, cut and paste, do the caps thing, etc.  Almost all of them dictate in the order of the standard headers.  Some of these dictators change their mind 2-3 times in the same sentence not to mention they change their mind and you do not kno ...

Do they still monitor keystrokes and mouseclicks?  I.e., if I am in Google...or checking AOL email, are those keystrokes counted?  I do think giving real feedback on how lph is good, but I agree...it is creepy.  And what about breaks?  I have always just stayed in a job and taken a 20 min break and then come back.  Should we not do that?  It has never been really clear.     ...

I thought usual MT shifts involved one weekend work day a week.  Is this normal?  I was offered both weekend nights and obviously they are "allowed" to do what they want, but seems a little unfair.  I don't expect any nasty responses of like take what you can get sort of thing, I am just trying to get a consensus of schedules and if I should bring this up, considering there won't be any work on the weekends... thanks ya'll ...

Are there any companies anymore that do not require you to set in stone your hours that you want to work?  The company I work for now has a 12-hour timeframe that you can do your 8 hours in, but its one of those things that when you start, if you get up or get a phone call or have to do anything whatsoever, the time is counted off of your productive time, and you have to add it back on the back end so you end up working throughout the whole 12 hours to get your 8.
