MLS Week gift - anon

Posted: May 30, 2015

I got my MLS weak (pun intended) gift. Actually, I kind of like it. I do keep a note pad on my desk and jot things down while I work...not always work related, but hey! It seems more useful than the leather mousepad I got from Spheris years ago. I would have prefered a cash bonus or some free PTO, but they probably got a deal on the thousands of these gifts that they ordered and the actual cost to them was minimal. Weak effort to make me feel appreciated. I still feel underpaid!

Just read the accompanying letter... - anon

Apparently, when I thoroughly read the letter enclosed with my MLS Week gift, I was selected at random to receive this. Sorry to all you unlucky MLS's who didn't get any sign of appreciation this week. Well, other than the email. You did get the email didn't you, or were just a few of us randomly selected, not based on merit but on chance, to receive the email of appreciation?

are you trying to stir the pot? - ss

[ In Reply To ..]
Selecting random personnel to receive whatever it is, is just a slap in the face to the rest of the work force. E-mail from TSM briefly mentioning MT week, but NOTHING from the company here.

They would be better off ignoring all of us, treating us all equally seems to be their goal. Whether you have 20 years experience or 20 days you work off same pay grid.

What do you mean by "stir the pot?" - OPanan

[ In Reply To ..]
I was trying to halfheartedly mock Nuance. Is that stirring the pot? I thought this was a place to vent our frustrations about the company. I wasn't trying to make other MTs feel bad for not getting a gift. When I made my first post, I thought everyone got one. Then, as my next post states, I thoroughly read the accompanying letter and learned that they only sent them to a few randomly selected people.

Be careful advertising this - you never know who is watching

[ In Reply To ..]
We know that HR is on here now. They could be sending out disinformation to see who responds here. That way they know who is "stirring the pot." Sorry to sound paranoid, but it is a common union-busting tactic. Try not to be too specific about any emails that you get that could identify you, they could make your life even miserable than it already is here.

Be careful advertising - DJ

I don't think HR posted that comment about the 2 week notice policy. They have better things to do. There was another post on one of the boards by a so-called MD who accidentally stumbled upon this site and said beautiful things about us. Get real -- nobody, docs or HR would bother with this dinky board. Sorry, not paranoid, just realistic -- think there is a jokester among us posting these things.

HR IS PAID to monitor this site. - Never answer private emails through this board.

[ In Reply To ..]
...never, ever identify yourself. Your access to this site from the computer you are on can and will be blocked, forcing you to utilize some other device to access it. Worst case scenario, you can be fired. Many, many people have "disappeared" after doing so. **** used to be the one paid to monitor it, not sure if she is still the one. But you can rest assured they will stop at nothing to shut down truth tellers.
Can they do that if you use - your own computer?
[ In Reply To ..]
I know they automatically block this site for their computers, but surely they can't block a private computer unless they have collusion by the site's moderators somehow?
No, Nuisance cannot block your own computer unless - they put some malaware on it. SM
[ In Reply To ..]
I'm not that familiar with tech stuff to know how it's done but I believe it can be done.

If someone is using their own computer for Nuisance, I'd suggest getting a really good tech person to go through it and check for malaware or such, and then set up some system to block Nuisance from seeing anything personal on it.

Don't. Be. Gullible. Don't ever trust an MTSO putting anything on your computer. You have to use their software for work, but you never know what else they might put on there to monitor your work activity and it sees everything else.
Yes. All they need is the isp address of your computer. - I am not making this up.
[ In Reply To ..]
Never, ever answer an email you get from someone utilizing the email function on this board. No need to anyway... keep it all public and anonymous, and safe. Goes for the other boards, too, Company, Main, Gab, etc. Especially if you use the same nickname to browse these boards, you are setting yourself up for disaster.

"Just emailed you some information."

That is your opportunity to change your nickname and NOT answer the email.

HR uses very innocent sounding ruses, they have been doing this for years. If it still *** in HR monitoring...that woman is wicked.
Is the ISP address per computer or per modem? - Val
[ In Reply To ..]
I always keep 2 computers going -- one for the typing and one for the research since the hospital website could take a while to load. I'd have MT Stars and Ebay open on the other computer. I never checked to see if they were on the same ISP.
Whoever disliked this comment - can you explain why?
[ In Reply To ..]
Is it in support of the moderators, or perhaps you are a moderator?

I was just speculating that Nuance should not be able to block a private person from accessing this site, sponsors or not, unless they somehow obtain that right from the website itself.

Is this incorrect? Or did you feel I was disrespecting the moderators?
I'm not the one who disliked it, but.. - Sean
[ In Reply To ..]
There's just no way they could legally do that on a PC you own without your knowledge/permission. I'm not even sure they could do it illegally, though I know your computer doesn't have an "ISP address" as someone mentioned above, so you should probably take any dire warnings from them with a grain of salt.
Yes, all computers DO have an ISP address. - Google is your best friend, use it. SM
[ In Reply To ..]
Maybe your words should be taken with a grain of salt.

Nuisance does a lot of things that skirt the edge of legality, like wage theft, so there's no reason to believe they'd not put some sort of spyware or such on an MTs computer.

I can't wait to wipe the smile off that witch. - The day is coming.

So small-minded of them to block this site - even on their own computers
[ In Reply To ..]
Smacks of North Korea.

Honestly, I used to get so mad when I had their computer. I would do a search for a phrase and most of the results would be on MTStars in the word help section, yet it was blocked.

How stupid is that? So bitterly vindictive they won't even allow their own MTs the ability to access research material. Nasty and stupid.
Well, they realize the truthtelling costs them recruits. They buy ad space, - So they feel entitled.
[ In Reply To ..]
...and of course, hopefully it does save unsuspecting innocent MTs from getting sucked in.

How is anyone going to identify me? - OPanon

[ In Reply To ..]
I used the alias "anon," my own computer (which is also my work computer though), and I use a gmail account as my email here that Nuance has no record of.

They can't. You also were not the only person randomly - selected, so there is that.

[ In Reply To ..]
You post was absolutely not specific enough for you to be identified. Not accepting private email is a good idea though.

Who even cares anymore? Face it - to be - fired from Nuance would be a blessing.

MT Week Gift
May 24, 2010

Just received my MT gift.  I really think that Medquist must feel "It is the thought that counts".  It probably cost them more to mail these then they are worth.  Why don't they just give us an extra hour off with training pay - worth more to me than this mousepad.  I need an ergonomic mouse pad anyway - did they ever think of giving their "beloved" employees one of those?  Oh well.  Just another day being an MT. ...

Used My MT Week Gift Card To Apply To School
Jun 30, 2014

I was going to hang out for a bit and see if they offered another coding class. But the day the card came in the mail they lost my main account that I had had for over 10 years. Since there was not even a courtesy notice given until a week later to any of the MTs it just made my decision easy. So thanks for the MT week money, I sure put it to good use. I start in August. ...

My Christmas Gift
Dec 22, 2009

First, I hope those of you who need to hear this will.  I am not by any means saying what I am to hurt anyones feelings, to be mean, to start a ruckus, as a means of causing some to say hateful things, or to seem "better than."  This, however, is something that those of you looking for work and unable to find a position, need to hear. I recently had an opening for a transcriptionist for my very small buisness and recieved many, many resumes.  Some were wonderful and I wish I coul ...

Transcend Gift
May 17, 2010

If Transcend was going to send me something worth less than a dollar store item, I would have rather had the dollar.  Some of you will blast me for not appreciating the gift I did receive as you didn't get anything, but sometimes it is best NOT to get something.  Like when you leave a penny for your server.  That is meant to be a slap in the face.  If you leave nothing they just think you forgot!  This little star clip thing is a slap in the face!&n ...

I Just Won A $13 Gift Card!
Oct 25, 2013

Yes, its true, my skills are awesome enough to warrant a $13 gift card.  Bow before me peons!  To all those who will take this personally, I'm teasing.   Anyway, there's a catch.  It turns out that this Visa card can only be used at certain places.  Unfortunately, the nearest one of these places is over 50 miles from me, making it worthless as I'd have to spend more money in gas to get there.  I could use it online, but shipping charges will pretty m ...

Transcend Gift Card!

Just Got My Gift Card In The Mail
Apr 11, 2015

My $13 prepaid Discover card came in the mail as thanks for not slitting my wrists while training on a new platform.  It came with a whole sheet of paper listing the dozens of different places I can spend it at.  There isn't a single store on the list I use LOL.  That seems mathematically improbable. 90% of them don't even exist within a few hundred to thousand miles.  The ones I do have don't apply to me.  For the second time, the Cracker Barrel is one ...

Good grief. I did not change the way I edit. It so depends on how many commas they think you should have. Yes, I made an unusual (for me) mistake last week, but the rest of passing an audit is dumb luck of whether you get a realistic auditor or Ms English wannabe.
