The company would make more if they allowed me to straight type too! I produce more straight typing than editing that garbage.

Too bad they big wigs can't figure that out. They would have more green in those pockets.

I donĂ¢€™t work for MQ so am not sure that other VRers can join here but I am delighted, thrilled, and all the other good things I can think of that we have speech now. I work for a company doing hospital work, the hospital being a large one, and learned VR about 5 years ago now and so glad I was on the bandwagon early and not scared to do it like others. I have an excellent platform, Ediscript, and can make about $150.00 per day, only working part-time so that is good enough for me. I donĂ¢€™t think with all the ESLs that are at the hospital now if my older mind would be able to hear half of what they are trying to say- you noticed I said trying because they are a hot mess. If I were typing as much straight as I used to do, I could make maybe $10.00 more a day. For me and how easy my VR is, I will take the VR and part straight any old day instead of racking my brain to figure out the garbage flowing in now with the dictators.

is awful. It takes constant correcting. It's nothing like your experience with VR. When it takes nearly the same amount of time to correct a report using VR as it does to type it, but they only pay 60% of your usual line rate, your pay really drops. Just my experience.

Trust me, ASR on DocQscribe has reduced all of us to making what we made 20 years ago. I could type the work fasting with one finger than it takes to correct the garbage the ASR records. They moved the phones throughout the hospital on my primary account and the recording now picks up all the background conversations of the nurses/doctors/cleaning machines. Yes, I have reported it multiple times. It does not matter to them I made $1.00 in 15 minutes...as long as they can hire more and more to spread the rotten work we are left to do - they still meet their promises to the hospital and we can make more money collecting cans!

I agree. It is the worst of the VR platforms I have used. All the Cntrl S and Cntrl red S. It is also the worst to train. You can correct the same thing 50 times and it still doesn't get it. The best in my opinion is EditScript I have gotten as much as 400 lph on this platform but an average is 200-250 lph which is only $8-10 an hour. They have shortcut keys where you never have to use the mouse or take your hands off the keyboard.

are charging the clients about the same for VR as straight transcription, only paying the MT less, so they don't care if we take a 40% pay cut if they're making a bigger profit. JMHO.

I've been told by my CCM that they are being charged less for VR, but I'm not buying it for one minute. We all know MQ's history with overbilling clients, ripping off the MTs, and the list goes on and on.

They hospitals do not know about the ASR-that I was told by someone working in the health records department on my primary - the Medquist person on-site did not realize the reports they were seeing were being run through ASR. It was only the increased amount of spelling the doctors were doing and the complaints about reports being held up that got people wondering what was going on. The CCM said that there were no new people on the account and there were many, many new people unfamiliar with the account and zooming through the ASR and not catching the mistakes. Many things were being held up in QA and really late. Of course there is the mysterious disappearance of all the easy dictators and the steady flow of marble-mouth, ESL. In my long career I have never sent so many reports to QA, I have never cried so much from sheer frustration going over and over a report and still end up sending 13 QA markers. Then to be told it is our imagination that the workflow is different after being on the account for 20 years first as in-house and then after the takeover.

Actually, I also work for a hospital that uses the VR. Everybody here knows about it and most of the docs hate using it.

The big seller to implement the ASR system was the $$ savings using it versus straight transcription. I don't know exactly how much money we save on an ASR report compared to a straight transcribed report. I know we aren't charged for ASR reports with less than 5 lines of dictation or incomplete reports.

Also, we have to check every ASR report that comes in. We never do this with straight transcribed reports. It justs creates more work for everybody involved on our end, docs included.

ASR may be the wave of the future, but I'd rather it go the way of the 8-track and become a thing of the past.

Percentage Sent To QA
Jun 27, 2012

I sent in 10% to QA last month due to difficult dictators.  There were a couple of days where I had some really bad dictations and maybe sent in 4 reports on that day.  Other days I didn't send any reports to QA.  The company has always told us if we are not 100% sure of the word to leave it blank.  Now I am being penalized for taking this advice.  I have been put on notice that they will let me go if I continue to go over 8%.  Does this seem unreasonable? &nbs ...

Nov 30, 2014

our pay will be docked because we may leave out "a" or something along that line or not place a comma where they believe it should be.  Before it just affected our bonuses but not our actual pay that we get.  Now our pay will be deducted for every error that they deem that we make!!!  That doesn't even seem legal.  Even if you work at McDonalds and make a mistake they don't cut your pay and don't give me the crap about affecting patient safety.  Bull crap! ...

Percentage Of Lines To QA?
Jan 21, 2015

When we first started this new compensation plan, I remember the magic line percentage for QA was 2%... but was that NO MORE than 2% gets post-audited, or AT LEAST 2% gets post-audited?   Just realized I have over 200 lines already post-audited for the week, but I have only transcribed 6500 lines so far, and 2% of that would be 130.   ...

Why Are We Being Penalized For QC Percentage Over 10%?!
Apr 27, 2015

This past pay period because my QC percentage was over 10% both weeks I calculated lost wages of almost $400.  The first week my quality was 100%, the second 99.7%.  The second week my QC percent was just a hair over 10%, but I of course ended up on the bottom of the pay grid, a difference of $150 for the week.  I don't send reports to QC because I'm lazy.  Why should we continue to get penalized for bad dictators, unknown names/business entities on new accounts, et ...

What Percentage Of Dictators Can Achieve 99% Accuracy Using VR?
Nov 24, 2013

On the account I work I'd say only about one dictator in 20 can achieve 99% accuracy with VR without editing.   This doesn't surprise me in the least.
