does anyone know how many people were terminated last week? should everyone be worried they will be terminated now

...my gut feeling is yes, and it's not paranoid to be worried.

My sense, from what others have reported here, is that the company was needing to lay people off; but to avoid everyone being eligible for unemployment, they have, little-by-little, raised the bar and lowered the pay until either you're terminated for good reason (or "with cause," or whatever it's called) because you're not meeting the requirements OR you quit on your own because the pay and conditions have become intolerable. Either way, it's a win for the company.....or at least that's how it appears to me.

It's a very unfortunate situation for MTs.

full-time with benefits and 120 for part-time or 39 hours per pay-period without benefits. I would hardly call that raising the bar. Even with the worst voice recognition system in the world, 150 lines per hour is attainable.

....you have to be GIVEN the jobs in order to reach that. From the sounds of what many are going through, they sometimes have to wait waaaay too long in order to even GET the lines in the first place. After putting in 10 or 12 hours of on-and-off NJA, if one gives up for the day (or just HAS to because of other "life" commitments), that could be pushing their LPH count way down.

But, yes--if the work is there, it should be easy to put out the minimums. If the work isn't there, it seems like asking one to squeeze blood out of a turnip to make those counts.

I meant to add that when I say they've raised the bar little-by-little, I wasn't very clear--I was referring to the requirements for quality percentage. Given that it's gotten about as high as it can and the hodgepodge nature of QA scoring, giving even a really good MT a score that just misses the requirement because of something being marked that was perfectly fine the day before, a lot of MTs have slowed their production down so much because of caution about quality.

I know you were speaking to the fact that most people seem to be getting terminated for line counts, but this whole atmosphere of paranoia combined with too much NJA really affects one's line count....sometimes, no matter how hard you try or how good you are.

My two main accounts are both straight typing, both have unusual specs (bold/italicize/underline certain words), both dictate multiple notes on the same sound file, demographics have to be entered manually for both accounts from patient lists. If the date is not dictated, you have to go back several days to find the patient, and they frequently change their mind on what they want to say or who the patient is halfway through the report.

Some days, it's a struggle to even get 120 lph for part time or whatever the full-time classification without benefits is, so 150 is completely out of reach.

Don't you wonder why the Labor Department, either state or federal, hasn't investigated this company and others like it? Maybe complaints aren't being made to the right agencies.

Was just wondering if everyone that has been let go has been full time with medical benefits. Possibly they are trying to get rid of people who get medical insurance and full time benefits. I myself am part time and don't get anything.

They dont have to pay part timers insurance under Obamacare so like many other companies, this seems to be the wave of the future..Im full time but dont use the bennies either..

production is to say they are not producing. I watched that graph and line count thing at the top where you download and it was always 150 to 180+ - straight typing being higher - but their big zinger is using it against the time you are clocked in and not using it per report. With all the breakdowns, freeze ups, time spent calling support, added to time with NJA - how do you get the required line count from that? One time I had 3 computers sitting here because they couldn't get it right - granted that was from the Spheris changeover, but the rest of the time it was just their crappy ASR and all the switching and the silly different CPs. Also, it's faster using the mouse and they know it. Right - they're just cleaning house.

Not for one single second. I am in the same boat as the OP. I even asked for suggestions as to what I could do, especially with the related NJA issues, down time, etc. They completely ignored my request and fired me two weeks later. Don't trust these people. Bad, bad news and a perfect example of capitalism on steroids with no concern for the AMERICAN workers. I personally would discourage anyone from working for them.

If the stats are true then the company average is somewhere around 200 lph. At 4 cpl that is only $8 an hour and in most states still below minimum wage. But the requirement is only 150 or 120 which is less than that even. The whole system is messed up if you can be above the company minimum but still be below minimum wage. The company probably got sick of paying make up pay.

Yes 150 lph is attainable it just isn't able to be lived on.

Legally the company cannot fire me if I am above the 120 per line and making below my stage minimum wage because I cannot help being in a state that is much higher than any other state.

Over the several years I have read this forum, multiple people have come on here posting that they were fired and were able to collect UE without any problems. Further about 1-1/2 years ago there was all sorts of drama on here about multiple people being fired on a single day particularly for not working their schedules. None of them ever said they were not able to collect UE.

I was fired in January 2013 after almost a year of employment with Mmodal. I loved the company, the benefits were good, the pay acceptable. However, I never could get a straight answer regarding the "chain of command" when I needed help during my shift (which was 4 PM to midnight EST) when there didn't seem to be anybody around! I just logged onto this board and now I see there was more to it than what they told me! They did start "raising the bar" and making undo demands to work "an hour extra" almost every day and then got pissy when you couldn't do it every day! Guess I'm glad I'm gone from there.

Wasn't it MModal's plan to have at least 80% of the work offshored by this time in 2013? I left in June 2012 (didn't get fired), but my guess is this is what all the terminations are about: More and more people with NJA and now all the terminations? If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...hum, must be a duck. So glad I got out when I did. Could this be the beginning of a so-called US "skeleton crew" for MModal? I do remember it was an interview done with Vern, and if I'm not mistaken, it was a financial publication or magazine from last year. I'm sure you'd still be able to find it online or someone on here may remember the name of the publication. What I remember most about it was the fact that Vern was so proud of the fact that much was going overseas. The smugness just made me sick.

Why is MModal posting job openings, when so many of use are running out of work or worse falling into the pool--what with the pay cuts, VR being paid half even though it takes nearly as long to edit most reports, and the fact that I only get my "primary" accounts about 30% of the time and the rest of the time I am typing from the pool so that nearly every report that comes up is a new facility or dictator, I have gone from making $16 an hour to minimum wage. I cannot afford this. Why can' ...

I see so many complaints about MModal. Does anyone actually like them? I'm in the hiring process and they are calling with an offer. I would like to try it out. I work in-house now, but eventually my position will be eliminated due to VR. I do not make that great of pay, and have lots of down time, but still have to sit in the office all day. I know that all companies have their ups and downs. My hospital being Union makes doing anything impossible and makes it easier to keep the "bad ...

I am so sick of Mmodal.  I resigned recently and I keep getting letters to return things that I have never ever owned or received or stuff that I had sent back to them years ago.  The DEPOT apparently is as ignorant as the rest of them. SO glad I found  real job that pays, respects and appreciates their employees.  I have only one PC to return and they sent me five boxes and a bunch of labels and stating that I have in my possession 7 different things.... OMG.. what a joke!!! ...

can you specify exactly what laws they have broken?  Yes, we are all unhappy here, but I cannot see that they have done anything they cannot do legally. The last judgment against them was for witholding pay.  I think they are too smart to break laws again. What do you expect to gain anyway by suing a company that has filed bankruptcy, which is always a very smart business move to make if you can get away with it. ...

It took a stupid pill.  It skips at least a fourth of the words, uses commas and back slashes like most people use salt and pepper of course skipping the words where it puts the commas in, puts in stuff that is not even close to what is dictated.  These companies pay for their stuff to be run through this ridiculous program.  Why are the bosses allowing this low quality to come through unless they own part of mmodal.  Does not make sense.   ...
