Sounds more of a financial move since the company - is an investor sort. Probably

only means pumping more money in to hire and create new suit positions. I doubt those of us in the trenches will realize any positivity here. Sad, but most likely true.

I sincerely hope I am wrong, but in general investment groups like this are obviously solely interested in this as a revenue and income source, or they wouldn't have bought it. That usually means (in other takeovers at least) more suits that specialize in finding cost cutting measures so it will be even more profitable. I am speaking in general of what is the norm in other cases like this, hopefully they will cut all the excess suits and not the workers. Might be a wild ride.

My CCM told me once that in a widespread layoff, the first sign would be if we saw the CCMs being let go. She said because the MTs/MMEs are the "income earners", we would be the last to go and that the CCMs would be laid off long before we would be because while they have an important role, they don't necessarily bring income to the table and are considered an expensive luxury.

I hope she's right ... I'm fighting to keep this job just until I finish school then I'm getting the hell out of this crazy industry.

I haven't seen what a CCM does in a long time - anyways?

We do our own scheduling and timesheets pretty much now. My CCM is gone most of the time on PTO. I always wonder how much she gets?

company. I think I would be so ashamed to be associated in any way with this program that I would consider quitting. I know they make money, but the garbage they are turning out is the poorest quality I have ever seen. I thought they hired an MLS to be on their staff, but obviously she is not or does not know anything about transcription. The owners certainly do not care as long as they get their money. There is no way to get any speed with editing on that platform ...

Medquist just bought the company I work for today. Do they do IC or employees? It is depressing reading about the poor treatment by some companies. I am looking for some part-time transcribing or VR editing after losing OT and no raise but health care, grocery, gas costs still rising. How are they to work for? Do you run out of work? I thought they were 2 different services. Everyone is buying out everyone, so who knows. All the small companies have been merged I guess. I thought Nuance was out of New York and were the primary with VR. Maybe one has to keep up with the changes and be a member and pay the dues and go to the meetings with AAMT and be a CMT to keep up with the changes, even though you still get 4 cents. ...

Has anybody worked for Alltype (Jerry Kelly) in the past in NJ? Apparently they were bought out by Medquist or M*Modal in 2012. I worked very briefly for Alltype in 2011 and then moved on to brighter horizons, although they reported to the IRS that I earned 4x what is actually on my W2 and according to my bank records.
