To all those who won a prize last week for MT week, congratulations.  Now for corporate, if you can afford to hand out trips, flat screen TVs, and other prizes, why can't you give us a COL increase?  I have never won a prize from MQ, even after 12+ years of dedicated work, working on short notice, getting high scores on audits, etc.  I don't want the prize, I want to be paid for what I'm worth on a daily basis!  Corporate, your actions speak louder than words!

I am just happy that I still have a job here - after all these years

I never win either, but today I am just to happy to have a job. I had some real horrible dictators today, but nothing is worse than not working.

Today I am going to choose to wear a smile instead!

It is not just the Q. Look around everywhere! My husbands company took away their x-mas bonus (used to be $1500) their summer bonus ($1000), their safety bonus ($500), raised their insurance premiums (from $80 a week to $140 a week), raised their deductible (from $2000 to $10,000), and no cost of living raise for the past 2 years.

This is not a Q problem or an MT problem, it is a UNITED STATES PROBLEM!

I see much worse coming for this country. So today, I am going to be thankful.

before the economy crashed. This is a common practice in the MT industry and people like you who don't stand up for yourself and are just content with being screwed left and right, are the reason this continues to happen.

You have no idea who I am. You have no idea what my tolerance level is. You have no idea how I feel.

If we are now on this planet to make generalizations about people... I think it is people like you who become postal, shooting up classrooms of kids, going bezerk and stabbing your husband, lashing out for no reason at an elderly man on a corner....

Being put in a category is not fun, is it?

I work 3 jobs to make ends meet. i am happy to have those jobs because they afford me the opportunity to responsibly provide for my family. I can't waste time or energy moaning and complaining or pointing blaming fingers for things I cannot do anything about. Yeah - we work harder and longer to make less, gas is $4 a gallon, food is high, etc., etc. I sure would like to be able to make a living with just one job. But I have to do the RESPONSIBLE thing in these bad times, and I know that there are a lot of people worse off than I am, so yes, I am grateful to have these jobs. One has to face that things will NEVER go back to the way they were - gas will never be $1 a gallon, MTs will never make 10 CPL and do straight transcription, but worrying about who's to blame and spending time screaming and stomping your feet, as well as taking out your frustrations on people who are in the same boat, trying to place blame, etc., is just not going to help anything. I would hope that people posting on this board would have some compassion on those who are working hard just to survive and trying to maintain a positive attitude. To those who think otherwise: Please keep your comments friendly and considerate.

Of course, the job is not perfect, but like you, I am extremely grateful every day that I have one. Oh, I expect to be laid off or reduced to less than minimum wage eventually if they can find a way to do it, BUT in the meantime, I am just glad to have a job. Especially this job because it is flexible enough to allow me to go back to school and finish a degree that will provide me the ability to earn a decent living once again.

This is a nationwide problem. A friend of mine who is a corporate pilot had his pay reduced 30% (which was company wide) 3 years ago in addition to losing the matching portion of 401K. Just look at the teachers and public workers all over the US who are being threatened with layoffs, reduction of beneifts, etc.

It is a sad state, but it is reality. The truth of the matter is, none of us are indispensible. There is no loyalty any more between employer-employee, and vice versa. If we do not want to do the job, there are thousands lined up to take our place.

I think I will just keep my mouth shut, fly under the rader until I can leave MQ, and just do my job, like it or not.

I am VERY thankful to have a job!! My mom has been a nurse for almost 40 years. Through various cutbacks, loss of bonuses, etc., she is now making $20,000 a year less than she was 10 years ago. She works at a hospital and STILL pays $450/month for insurance for just her and my dad. I have 2 family members who have been out of work, one for about 2 months, the other for about 6 months. McDonald's isn't even hiring here!

Gas is almost $4.00 a gallon here, and a gallon of milk is almost as much! It is not just a MQ problem, or even an MT problem. It is everywhere. Of course I wish my paycheck were bigger, but for now I am happy just squeaking by. I, too, choose to be happy.

I cannot believe MTs, for all their overall intelligence, buy that there are no other choices out there, that they should be grateful to be working for a company trying its best to get rid of us. For the person working 3 jobs, what if you looked for 1 decent-paying job? I used to work 1 job, but now work 2 specifically because of pay drops with MQ (single parent, 2 kids, own house). It breaks my heart for those who believe they have to take this type of treatment from MQ to survive. That's just not true. The only real reason to stay is to wait for the unemployment coming around the bend.

They can't give us that COL increase because they are trying to reduce us to the living standards of Indians - like a caste system, where the corporate suits make all the money and the rest of us starve. I just read an article stating MQ made their largest profit in years in the first quarter, and not sure if this number was for the year or the quarter, but it was something like 111 mil.

Just received e-mail from corporate stating that as they had previously stated they would be rearranging management, ccm's, etc.  It went on to state that if you had been reassigned to a new CCM they would be contacting you in the future, but Thank GOD at the bottom it lists who your CCM will be and I am lucky enough to have the same CCM who I love and has always been good to me.   Today is my lucky day.  So glad she is not one of the ones to go. ...

A prime example of that is when I work every holiday for time and 1/2, but low and behold, there is mysteriously no work in the system.  Because they press a button and send it all overseas for some poor sap to do for 5 cents a day, instead of paying me time and 1/2.  There is no appreciation for the MT and our expertise anymore.  Used to at least get an Xmas card, not even that anymore.... :(   Save Yourself! ...
