After 10 years with Medquist I've decided to not walk but RUN! Does anyone know how I can take the abbreviations I've spent 10 years developing on my own? Is there a way I can copy them to a disk? Any help would be so appreciated!

My sister was unable to do this about 9 years ago when she left. You could probably copy the file to a flash, but it would be useless on any other platform I think. Regardless, good luck to you and CONGRATULATIONS!!! May I ask if you are staying in the field or switching to another field altogether?

I know it is possible... just gotta find someone to tell you how. Unless they've locked up the file somehow... I was able to do it a while back, but can't remember now how. It seems there were directions on a board called Productivity Plus?

The file for expansions is user.aco - sludge

When I got IT, they formatted the file for me - Kittymama

When I got Instant Text some years back, they asked me to email them the file (user.aco) and they formatted it for me and emailed it back so I could use it. Hope this helps!

Do a search for user.aco and then copy that - Jaz

file to a flash drive. Your expansions from this file should work with any Word-based platform. Support helped me with this a while back and you can call them if you have trouble finding your expansion file. Mine were in a folder called User Profiles.

I tried to copy my IT glossaries when I quit, but the MQ computer would not recognize my flash drive. If you get it to work, would you please tell how? TY

I don't know if this would work, but maybe somebody who knows more than me would know. I would email myself a copy of the file as an attachment. From the start menu, go to My computer, find the file you want, then choose the option Email this file. Then access your email from your own computer and use the copy from there.

Cruzer and Lexar, and did not have a problem with MQ computer recognizing them, so I don't know what you can do except try to use the flash on another PC and, if it works, copy and email the file to yourself and go from there.

I did this with mine, but I don't work for medquist. Get one of those memory sticks and copy it onto there and then copy it to your new system when you get it. Hope it works.

We have been offered a job to move right over, etc. and everything sounds just wonderful. LOL. However, I see on the board many, many unhappy employees. I will never understand why companies over hire, we were ontop of TAT. In 2 weeks we have gone from 100s of files to 20 and fighting each other for them. 1200 lines to 400 a day ? Amazing the amount of job hopping necessary to support our families as most of type long hours, low pay to support our families. I am sickened by the thought of losing another job to no lines and the financial downfall it will have on my family..... I do not want to name company as I fear ...

I have an opportunity to get a brand new MAC as a gift. My boyfriend has an extra one. I work on the BeyondText platform and remember seeing someone on here had a MAC but had a way to split it so her Windows programs ran on the MAC somehow. Tech support at Transcend says it won't work on a MAC. Or maybe I was wondering if an external driver could be used that was Windows and would run on the MAC. Probably a pipe dream, but a MAC! I just came on shift and the system is sluggish, taking forever to download jobs and to switch between screens for ADT. As if that wasn't delightful enough, I just got the dreaded "unable to provide further audio" on the only decent-length job I've had, and I was actually able to hear it just fine.
