Anyone else running out of work at Transportal? - sick and tired of this

Posted: Jul 17, 2010

Living on 400-500 lines a day is impossible. I 'm told there's no work.  REALLY?

Why do you hire MTs if there's not enough work to go around?

Run, run, run--do not listen anymore with this - Happytobegone

company. Trust me on this one. If you complain, they will put you on an impossible account designed to make you quit or get fired, and there will not be enough work NEVER!!!!!!---

I was let go not too long ago because of line count - and I was told

[ In Reply To ..]
that I was the only one not making line counts even though we ran out of work on almost a daily basis. They moved me to another account that was horrid and impossible to make money on, and then moved me back to my original account that was still running out of work. Then let me go because I was only making about 400-500 lines a day if I was lucky.

When I asked if there was a possibility that the account might have another company doing work for them and that is why we were running out, they got very offended. It was shortly thereafter that I was let go.

Wow, I thought I was the only one with that experience there! sm - happy ex

[ In Reply To ..]
I got let go for not making line counts too several months ago! Once J moved into his new position, it has been nothing but downhill from there. It would not surprise me at all if they are truly losing accounts after the way I saw things being ran.

Sometimes I wonder if companies like to keep MTs running low on line counts for a hidden reason, i.e.

1) If you don't make your line counts, you don't get benefits......
2) With companies who pay higher rates after so many lines, they want to keep you at the lowest rate possible to keep more money in their pockets, not yours.....

makes no sense - sick and tired of this

[ In Reply To ..]
I agree on the "J" point. I work for another "J" and she treats us like we're children. I love the motivation by denigration method- NOT! I guess it's time to put out the resumes because I only see this company getting worse not better.

Sound JLG sister company - shortstak6733

[ In Reply To ..]
Sounds just like JLG. Horrible. Be glad they let you go so you can find a better job. I promise they wont be around long.
Wow. I remember years ago when JLG was the favored - place to work for. What happened? nm

JLG BAIT AND SWITCH, ANTIQUATED SYSTEM - shorstak67333
[ In Reply To ..]
What happened to them is that they are LIARS. BAit and SWitch. You have to wait 5-7 days for your paycheck, no shift differential, no weekend differential, no holiday pay, demand 13,000 pp even if you are an IC, not enough worse so you'll never get benefits.

Glad to know there are others out there - and I was told

[ In Reply To ..]
who had the same experience. Not glad that it happened to you, but glad to know I wasn't the only one it happened to in the sense that I don't feel crazy now.

You are right about how the attitude changed once J took over, but I started running out of work last summer and it never did get any better.

I haven't quite found my niche yet, but I know it will happen. Good luck to you all!
I quit before they could let me go and glad to be gone - Happytobegone

the majority of the owners at Transportal come from a merger or something of the sorts with Archivus. They left Archivus to form Transportal, but they still work on the same accounts. J--sad to say--is not qualified, but you cannot tell D anything about him. He is running that company in the ground. I have found my niche for a couple of months now and have work, work, work. Please do not waste your time with Transportal--it will not get better--the bottom line is that they meet tat and if that means overstaffing the account, it will be done. Move on quickly. I know they will be losing accounts soon if not already!!!!!!

TransPortal and running out of work - TennisMom

[ In Reply To ..]
You guys are amazing. The queues I work in are bursting with work. It was slow around Memorial Day for a week or so but crazy busy since. Did you ever think it could be your issue and not the companies or the supervisors? Act like adults and you will be treated that way.

TP running out of work? - HappytobewithTP

[ In Reply To ..]
Wow! On the contrary, as long as I've been with TP, I've never run out of work and most days even have more than enough. I agree with TennisMom. If you have issues, work it out with the TP personnel instead of bashing ppl on here. They have always been more than helpful to me, so I'm surprised that you weren't treated with the same respect unless you were doing something wrong to start with.
current employee and I am out of work right now. I am hoping it, sm - but happy with them
[ In Reply To ..]
picks up. It has been slow for me for a while. I do get the required line count though. I would just like to have more.
if you need more work... - HappytobewithTP
[ In Reply To ..]
If you want to have more, you should definitely express that to your supervisor. He/she should be helping you get required lines, and probably aren't obligated to go beyond that, but I've found that in most cases when I communicate properly a desire for a little more or a little less, they are very accommodating and do what they can. Communication is the key.
until you fall from grace - sick and tired
[ In Reply To ..]
I did nothing wrong. Always communicate with my acct mgr. But I annoyed her one day and ever since then, she's been like a petulant child and my work flow has decreased. I ask for more, am told there is no more. I am able to do several specialties and am told they have no work (despite seeing an ad for hiring recently). This is a personal vendetta IMO by an acct manager who uses passive-aggressive as her middle name.
I would be sick and tired too - HappytobewithTP
[ In Reply To ..]
UGH. How frustrating!! That does seem clearly unfair and irrational. I believe I would be just as upset if I were in your shoes and had done everything to the best of my ability. In that case, I might go to higher mgmt and say something because they might need to know about it. Nobody's perfect, but I really do think TP as a whole is a great company to work with/for, personal issues aside. That situation is just not good for anybody morale-wise.
Happy with TransPortal - Happy2BWorking!!
[ In Reply To ..]
Confused about your comments. I work for TransPortal and rarely run out of work and transcribe on average 1800 lines a day, but I also show up to work every day and they can count on me being there. If I am not able to work for some reason (illness, computer) or need a vacation day, I simply communicate that with my supervisor and there's no problem, and I make arrangements to make up on lost work if it was a situation that was due to computer problems, or if I have an appointment to meet during the day I make the necessary plans to make up my work in the evening. I'm always paid on time by direct deposit, have a steady flow of work with good dictators, and have a job to go to every day from the comfort of my own home and do not have to pay $1000 a month for childcare. Got it made. If you are low on work, must be because you are on probation for pulling too many NO SHOWS or you are in 100% QA for poor quality. I understand the higher volume of dictation is available as we are often covering for teammates who NO SHOWED, but it's more work for me, which is more $$ in my checking account, but unfortunately less $$ in yours. I'll take it when I can get it. Thank you for not showing up for work or for not caring about quality. Your loss is my gain (I don't know about you, but I have bills to pay and a husband out of work, and unemployment is not going to cut it - try living off of that). There have been no accounts lost at TP and they are starting up new accounts regularly, so plenty of work. Hate it that it didn't work out for you there, and I would guess that you won't truly be happy with any transcription company, or for that matter, with any job really as that would require you to actually work and dedicate yourself to quality. Nothing is free and your paycheck is not going to be just handed to you - you have to work for your pay.
I have requested another account. I have communicated. - but happy with them
[ In Reply To ..]
But I figure after several sessions of communcation, I am not going to beg for work. As it stands now, I just keep running out.
Assume much? - sick and tired
[ In Reply To ..]
"Thank you for not showing up for work or for not caring about quality."

Except that's not the situation at all. I went over someone's head and apparently hurt her feelings. My work is excellent as is my attendance record.
Been there, done that too. Girl you should get that resume out sm - happy ex
[ In Reply To ..]
dust it, polish it, and get it out. Your situation will not improve under this situation. I had EXACT same thing happen.

Does no good going above J to D either; makes it worse. Never ever, stand up for yourself in this company nor question anything either.

Oh yeah and that "Thank you for not showing up for work or for not caring about quality." as manager screaming from it!
Assume much? - Tired Hands
[ In Reply To ..]
Obviously, this e-mail about our not caring for quality or showing up is from one of the supervisors. TP cares nothing about its good employers and if you let them know you are dissatisfied in any way, they find a way to fire you. I know, they did it to me, and my queue was always empty until about 5:00 in the afternoon, then I had to share it with about 4 people, making a decent salary impossible because no one could do over about 400 lines a day since the first of the year. They told me to suck it up in so many words and they really want people to quit if they aren't happy making their $150 per week. This is the truth and there are any number of hard-working transcriptionists who have had the same experience. Their TAT supposedly says 48 hours, but it is actually instant, as nothing stays in the queue over about 5 minutes until someone has grabbed it. Sorry way to do business. I'm glad I'm gone.
Happy to be working too - OK Horse Gal

I LOVED your reply to "No work at Transportal". I too, as an older, retired, second career, post market crash part-timer have been trying to cover for the slackers that NO SHOW to work consistently or don't work to their agreed-upon line rate. While I'll never be up to a full time rate, (my old butt won't take that amount of time in a chair) I am so grateful for this job, my direct deposit check for a competetive line rate with a great supervisor. So, those who are screaming that there is no work probably didn't make it from the bed to their computer that day.
Heck, the time they spent typing all this garbage they could have done a whole BUNCH of work! Glad to be working with another "worker bee". Blessings to all
OK Horse Gal
kind of hard to your agreed-upon line rate - if NJA message daily
[ In Reply To ..]
I worked on the ER acct and ran out of work for almost a year on an almost daily basis. I wasn't supposed to work the weekends, but did to try to make up for NJA during the week. I was the one showing up on weekends when no one else did. I maintained 99.3% accuracy on my QA scores.

Glad things aren't like that for you there and I wish you luck that it continues. It depends on who your supervisor is and what acct you are on.

Transportal - OK horse gal

I don't know how anyone runs out of work at Transportal, especially on ortho. I'm working weekends trying to help keep up and I'm an original part-timer. I've been with them for about a year and 8 months and have NEVER been without work, and both supervisors that I have had, John and Joan, have been fantastic. They are fair and patient. If you "show up" to work every day and do the job you agreed to do, there is always enough work. I'm happy with Transportal and recommend them to people who REALLY want to work. Blessings to all- OK horse gal
