Feel like throwing the computer out the window - mom2huskies

Posted: Jun 12, 2010

I just have to VENT today. Between bad ASR, poor audio quality, 90% ESR and 12 different accounts today I feel like tearing my hair out. But, I guess I could have no work.

LOL!!! Dont do that! Recently I made the mistake of - (see message)

losing my temper (for all the same reasons), and hauled off and punched my CPU - HARD. It started to go faster and faster, would not shut off, and finally overheated and died. That little tantrum cost me about $200 at the computer repair shop.

Still, it felt OH-SO-GOOD to punch its lights out. And of course, I was envisioning a certain MT-company CEO's face when I did it. Hee.

LOL, what a story - mom2huskies

I bet that felt good but I am sorry that it cost you $200. The sad part is I doubt our computers are worth $200.

I feel for you - in the same boat

the only advice I have is to go give those huskies a huge hug! My dog always made me feel better even in the midst of MQ hell.

Thank God for my Husky - mom2huskies

The best part about working for the Q is that I get to stay home with my Husky. I sure do give him a lot of hugs and he always makes me feel better. The same certainly cannot be said for the big dogs that run the Q sadly.

did throw the laptop on the floor - big mistake

[ In Reply To ..]
Got angry at laptop, threw it on the floor. $700 mistake. Another time whipped mouse around in back yard like a lasso and it hit the tree. Those can be replaced for a lot less. Last week while trying to do some gardening I found a huge piece of cement in the backyard, undoubtedly left over from builders who thought they could hide it under 6 inches of dirt and someone would just put in grass and never know, but I like plants and not grass. I now have another form of stress relief. A friend loaned me a thingamajig that you drop onto rocks, it's like a weighted steel stick, which breaks off the rock and you can wedge it under to pry rock up. That'll help out during times of stress, and save on my computer repair/replace bills.

Feel Like Throwing In The Towel
Oct 20, 2009

Today I received an E-mail stating that I did not meet production. This is the first time this has happened to me. It just keeps getting harder to make any lines between VR and almost 100% ESL. Sometimes I feel I would be better off working at McDonald's or Walmart the way things keep going.  ...

I Could Just Throw This Computer Out The Window.
Oct 31, 2013

Just received 2 emails - 2 jobs with 1 error each from this a.m. I have been extremely careful doing VR and these 2 errors are a word that is "missing." I think once we upload a job, this VR crap doesn't 'save" what we've done in a report fully. This has been happening quite a bit lately. I had a report a couple of weeks ago where the report had an entire paragraph in it that wasn't dictated. I remembered that job from a few hours prior and I know I didn't add t ...

Throwing My Hands Up...well Almost
Aug 11, 2011

I have been job hunting since May of this year.  I don't have acute care experience, lots of Radiology and clinic experience.  (11 years).  I have passed tests, I have sent out resumes, I have tried job boards, etc.  I either a) Never hear anything; 2)  Been told, hey you passed with flying colors but we already picked our applicants; 3) Been told they needed me, then did a 180 and said no they didn't but will hold my resume; and 4) Been told my system is too u ...

Throwing My Hands Up In The Air.
Oct 18, 2011

I refuse to test any more!!  I am sick of being directed to the mttest site only to have 4 or more reports waiting to be done that are 5-8 minutes long each!!  Seriously, if they want to see my skills, just let me try and work for them for a while.   I just refuse to test any more.  It is ridiculous considering what they want to pay anyway.  Sigh.  Done venting! ...

Throwing Bad Stuff Back!
Jan 27, 2014

It is so frustrating to be working when only a few others are working and having the job#'s progressively increase, but then have a really horrible dictator's file come in that was hundreds of jobs before the rest in your box!  In other words, being thrown back. If you have your client set to show TAT, you can see it in the TAT too!  Like file 1 being at 18:05, file 2 being at 18:05, file 3 being at 18:03, but then file 4 being at 16:55.  If this happened with any of t ...

Shorthand - "hint" Window Or The "suggestion" Window?
Sep 02, 2010

Do you guys use the "hint" window or the "suggestion" window? So, I've been using SH for a bit now and today, by accident,  was trying to change a font, I realized that I was only using the small "hint" window and there was the "suggestion" window that brings up more than 1 entry. For a couple of reports I used the "suggestion" window but found it awkward having to scan the window, but probably weird to me because I'm not used to it. Which do you use?   ...

How Do I Get Rid Of QA Window?
Oct 23, 2012

Does anyone know how I can get rid of the QA window that keeps popping up with each QA blank? I often put in QA markers with a difficult dictator and then go back and listen again and compare to previous reports, so I'm not ready to write a QA note. In the meantime, that irritating window pops and covers the field I'm working in, and I have to manually push it down with the mouse each time. ...

NJA Under The 15 Minute Window
Apr 14, 2010

Lately, when I get NJA it is just long enough to slow my production down, but not long enough to report it.  It only lasts about 10 minutes most times.  Does everyone else wait the 15 minutes before reporting as we are supposed to, or do you report it right away? ...

Would It Be Too Much To Ask To Get A 5 Minute Window
Mar 06, 2011

Seriously, I was 11 seconds (according to my punch clock) past the scheduled start of maintenance on submitting a really long job and it didn't go through.  I think they should wait 5 minutes for the last minute submissions or at least hang onto the job and have it submitted after maintenance.  ...

Window Color In ES9

Does anyone know how to change the window color from the blaring white in Word for ES9 so that it will work?  Each time I have changed it, ES9 messes up.  Hard to believe in the technology they have this can't be done. Was hoping when I upgraded from XP last year this would have been the fix, but apparently not. Thank you ...

Change From Company-provided Computer To Own Computer
Aug 04, 2011

I am in the process of transitioning jobs and will be going from a company-provided computer to my own.  Any suggestions on what software programs are needed, virus protection, word expanders, line counting, and hardware like foot pedal?  The hospital I am looking into will be using Microsoft Word.  Any comments on whether this is a good program or not to transcribe on?  Any tips?  I have been with the same company for 15 years, so have been out of the loop and need ...

Is ANYONE At MQ Working On A Window 7 System
Sep 06, 2010

I use my own laptop.  The system runs so slowly.  I have changed my internet from DSL to cable.  I've emptied my cookies and defragged and scanned until my fingers bled.  I'm still slow.  It's either my antique XP laptop or DQS itself. I'm open for suggestions.  My CCM says DQS is not compatible with windows 7, but you know how that goes. ...

Companies With 12-hour Window?
Mar 05, 2014

Does anyone know of any companies that allow either a 12-hour window to get in your hours or just a line count quota with no daily time limit? I suppose either one of those options would be IC, but wouldn't mind an employee position.  I have worked at one of the big ones for a few years but I am just too burnt out working late at night "scheduled" every night.  I hesitate to change my schedule with them because of losing my account, which is the only reason I keep plugging away a ...

Since The Window To Request Thanksgiving Has Closed
Oct 22, 2014

and the window to request Christmas is about to open, and the new rule our "scheduler" made up is that we can only take one of them, it would be nice if she would PROCESS THE THANKSGIVING REQUESTS SO WE KNOW IF WE CAN REQUEST CHRISTMAS OR NOT.    On a side note, since we can only take one of them, I suspect because she thinks it will make her job easier, that's going to throw way too many people working on completely dead holidays, which will lead to her having to fill out a ton ...
