Anyone using a Boostaroo for better audio clarity - just wondering

I used it until the batteries ran out - not any longer, not much help

I tried to use it, but honestly it was more trouble than it was worth as the batteries died quickly and you had to turn it on and off each time to save them. I did not notice enough improvement in volume to buy new batteries - it sits in my drawer with all the other gimmicks they have sent over the years instead of paying us well.

I agree, didn't really make - a difference NM

Boostaroo - BH

I bought and used it, but I have to keep turning it off because of loud dictators, then I get a real quiet dictator, where I will have to turn it on. Also, it connects to the computer and the other end connects to my earphones, so it keeps dropping on the floor. I will have to try it again to see if I get any improvement with the mumblers.

Try Breakaway Audio Enhancer software. - It is amazing!

I think it is about 25 bucks but you can trial it for a month for free. Give it a try. It really makes a difference for my "whispering" dictators!

Jeez. Instead Of Boostaroo, They Could
Apr 30, 2015

just email the few dictators who are laying the phone down and whispering.  THAT'S the problem.  Not the audio.  The individual dictators.  Why should we have to buy extra equipment for the few jerks who don't care if you can hear or not when they lay the phone on the desk so they can flip through the chart?!?  How hard is it to ask the client to send out a nice generic email reminding them that we can't hear it if they aren't holding it to their mout ...

A Little Clarity
Jan 14, 2015

Just to put things in perspective.  See the link below.  I am by no means demeaning any job whatsoever, but I do believe there is a higher degree of skill in making sure a patient's record is accurate, when a life hinges on that, and the knowledge it requires over a cashier.  Now....where do you fall in this pay scale?  Enlightening, is it not?  There is no other way to look at this.  After you see the scale below, thing about those of us who have been in this ...

Boostaroo: Re A Small Discussion About
Sep 11, 2010

This is mentioned as a great product to increase the volume on voice files.  I went to Radio Shack and checked it out.  The picture shows what looks like a very short cord.  Could someone explain how this works?  I currently have to plug my headset directly into the front of my computer because there was no sound when I plugged them into my speakers.  Would I plug the Boostaroo into the computer?  Does the headset then plug into the Boostaroo?  Also, in the pic ...

Voice Clarity
Nov 07, 2009

I'm about to throw my compuer out the window!!!  I've had such poor voice quality today's dictations.  To make matters worse, they all seem to be on hyperspeed and eatting lunch.  I'm having to listen over and over just to get the ADT screen filled out.  Can't make out the doctor's name half the time and when I finally get out of ADT, the report itself is taking like 3-4 times longer than it should because of the sound quality.  I& ...

Has Anyone Here Used Both DEP Platform And Clarity/Cornerstone? SM
Jun 21, 2011

I worked for Spheris and used platform called Cornerstone.  There are some MTs on the account who get to use the MQ platform, DEP.  Cornerstone is very slow and I was wondering if the MQ platform is faster/better/whatever.  If anyone knows answer, please, please email me.    Thank you. PS Any former Spheris MTs who LOVE Cornerstone, I don't want to hear about it.  I know all shortcuts and use SH quite effectively.  The thing is slow and I'm peeved ...

Whoever Recommended That "Boostaroo" Thingamabob--THANK YOU!
Jul 02, 2012

I ordered it last week from Amazon, received it today, and put it to use just a few minutes ago for a dictator who didn't want to speak into the mic.  What a difference!  It amplified the volume so much so that I had to put my volume on the lowest setting and it came in beautifully!  Sad that we have to destroy our ears like this, but so much better than cranking the volume and still having a report full of holes. Thank you again for the wonderful recommendation!  ...

Audio
Aug 10, 2010

I am a "newbie."   I have tested for 2 small companies and the audio was so bad I just couldn't hear enough to transcribe.  Are all dictations this bad, or is it just some of them?   The parts I could understand were fairly simple, but the audio sounded like a tape recorder when you are holding down rewind and play at the same time.  I am just curious.  Maybe my hearing is just not what it should be.   Appreciate any response, ...

Pay For Audio
Apr 27, 2012

in contacting a general transcription company for work, I was told "a one-on-one interview, 60 - 90 minute tapes, generally generates $40-$45 per tape."  does this seem like a low figure??  I don't know much about these types of dictations. They said most transcriptionists complete one 60 to 90 minute tape per day.  so how long do you think it would take to complete 90 minutes of two people interview and is $45 too low for that type of work??  just asking.  ...

Pay Per Hour Of Audio
Apr 22, 2010

I'm looking at a job that pays 50-55 dollars per recorded hour of audio.  This is interview or straight dictation transcription.  Does this sound okay?  I'm thinking if it takes me 2 hours to transcribe an hour, that wouldn't be such a bad deal.  I'm just not sure how long it would take me.  I do transcribe very fast...shortcuts are used for medical but can implement for this type of transcription as well.  Just not sure that the pay is reasonabl ...

Pay Per Audio Hour
Dec 15, 2011

How long does it take to transcribe 1 audio hour of dictation?  When I started, I was told we should average it as 10 minutes per every hour, but 10 minutes seems low to me now.  It would probably take me about 20 minutes to do a 10 minute job today, with proofing and looking up words, etc.  Then again, if you are learning something new, that might not be so unrealistic.  Just looking for opinions on this from those who have done it.  Keep in mind, I would be doing non-m ...
