account names question - ??

Posted: Apr 08, 2011

My resume obviously has a list of companies I've worked for plus different work types, etc.  Is it acceptable to list medical facilities (accounts) we've worked on even though not directly employed with them?  TIA

absolutely not! - mt

Part of any confidentiality agreement with any MTSO includes keeping the names of facilities confidential.

A prospective employer would absolutely LOVE to find out the names of the facilities that their competition is doing business with in order to go after them.

And you can be sued for breach of contract.

Never mention specific accounts, major no-no. - NM

I do. It's part of my experience. I don't see - why it should be a no-no. (???)

It really is not good business practice, especially in MT. What I have generally put on my resume is something "generic," like "was responsible for typing acute care basic 4 reports for a large medical facility located in either a state or a region of the country." Frankly, these other companies do no need to know the name of the facility and again, it does tend to open up a can of worms with potential competition, etc.

Totally agree. Think about it this way. Why - sm

would a company want to hire you if they know you are going to name their accounts when searching for another job? You don't tell other MTSOs about accounts other have, even though they probably know.

It's a no-no because - Old Pro

it is what is known in the law as "proprietary information," which belongs to the MTSO ONLY.

account names - 1mt

You should check with your MTSO before doing this. I am able to list some of them as references but as far as the "experience" section on the resume goes, I do not list any specific account names.

Not if you want to keep working in the field of medical transcription. For our company, that is a firing offense.

Doc Names, Etc
Aug 11, 2011

Can someone explain to me why, if I get paid by the line, I spend so much time looking up doctor names, facility names, the local burger joint, etc, but I don't get paid for that? ??  I am going to throw in the towel with transcription and look for a job that pays by the hour.  This line stuff is a joke.  Can't get up speed or stay with a rhythm for stopping to try to find names of people, places and things. ...

Names On W2's
Jan 25, 2015

Anyone notice their W2 now actually says Nuance Transcription Services and no longer Transcend DBA Nuance... Last year there were lots of comments about our W2's (all of us, not just those who came in from Transcend) saying Transcend.  I even wrote HR to see what was up with that. They never told us about the change to Transcend and certainly didn't mention the change back to Nuance. Oh well.  Just an observation. ...

LOOKING UP NAMES AND ADDRESSES
Nov 12, 2009

Does anyone else ever have a problem with a doctor/nurse, etc. who sends out letters or just on regular reports who gives no complete names or addresses?  We have a place to go look them up but it does sometimes take a chunk out of my time doing it.  One or two minutes means a lot sometimes.  I have one doctor who dictates letters to "Dr. Smith, Dr. Jones," etc. and there are only about 10 of each of those listed and sometimes you cannot tell what the specialty is to look it up.&n ...

So, this being the most friendly and up-to-date board around regarding MT practices, can I get some opinions about the HIPAA 'privacy rule' and your doctors using patient names in their notes, clinic or otherwise. I'm DONE Trying To Decipher Names
Aug 14, 2012

99% of the wasted "down time" I have in my work day is trying to decipher doctor names, patient names, referral names, dictator names, resident/assistant names and I'm literally sick to death of it.  From now on if I don't hear the name the VERY FIRST TIME it's said it's going to be LEFT BLANK.  No more listening to it over and over and over and over trying to catch the first syllable or the last, or even a piece of the name - I sometimes spend 5 whole minutes PER R ...

To Capitalize Or Not...department Names
May 24, 2010

When do you capitalize departments?  I have been in the biz for 10 years, and my current QA staff is giving me conflicting feedback on my capitalization.  One QA manager is giving me errors for not capitalizing, the other is giving me errors when I do!  I was always taught that you didn't capitalize the department unless it was preceded by the proper name of the hospital (XYZ Hospital Emergency Department, etc). Also, as far as specialties, how do you handle those?  For ...

Do You Think We Should Guess At Drug Names?
Nov 05, 2010

Am I overly concerned or do you think I may have a point?  I think the Word Help Board is invaluable and have always helped whenever I 100% knew the correct spelling.  But as I have been reading the questions, there seem to be more and more drug questions from drug lists, which means no point of reference.  There are also a few “allergic to: sounds like” questions.  When I first started working as a Medical Transcriptionist, QA was always:  “Leave a b ...

Need A Good Site To Look Up Doc Names. Sm
Jan 31, 2012

I am needing a good site to search for docs for particular states.  I've been using NPI, but the doc I am trying to find is not coming up.  He/she has an unusual name and it is being dictated by another doc who is struggling to pronounce it.  The doc I am needing to do a search on right now is in Missouri.  I don't know the clinic.  I only know that the patient is to follow with him/her for diabetes. ...

Drs. Who NEVER Input Patient Names.
Jun 27, 2012

How annoying is that? There are a few doctors on my account that don't bother inputting the patient name into the demographics, don't spell it, don't give a date of service...they just say a name and start dictating. They do this for every report, and it's been that way since I started working here! I have a rule where I only try 2 spellings of the name to find the patient. Otherwise it gets pended. What do you guys do?     ...
