The Grand 13... here's a thought for the naysayers - mtmom

Posted: May 15, 2012

While there are people against what the Grand 13 have done, there are also those out there that think 13 isn't enough.  Remember this, our country started with 13 Original Colonies that also had enough and had the guts to stand up for it.  This 13 (and the scores of others who have now joined this suit) are doing the same thing, only against Transcend and not the British or other government.  Just sayin...

someone get me a pin - gotta pop this thing

its gonna explode!

Maybe I'm dense, but what's this supposed to mean? - mtmom

Seriously, I don't know what you mean. Thanks for clarifying when you do, if you do. :)

you got that right. - dense

Wow. Petty b's on here today - dense aka mtmom

Still didn't explain anything. Try it. At least I'm explaining my thoughts. You people getting mean just show how petty and immature you are. Grow up.

Agreed, not feeling the need for daily updates on this lawsuit - Which could drag out for ages

[ In Reply To ..]
Gonna have to start just scrolling past all of these "[insert adjective here] 13" posts. This is going to get as tedious as all those strike posts were, I'm afraid. Yawn.

Twitter - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Not well-versed re. Twitter but a previous poster suggested twittering using ''#Wage Theft''. That is a perfect description of the fraud perpetrated on MTs---Wages slashed in half based on the fraudulent premise of VR significantly increasing production. Wish the lawsuit concentrated more on that than timesheet issues.

Great analogy! nm - Boosted Mom

Well, both involve - the number 13

[ In Reply To ..]
but the analogy falls apart after that. The "stand" made by the colonies was actually the Revolutionary War, you know, with rifles and cannons and killing and stuff. And the colonies had significant assistance from foreign allies, who also had rifles and cannons and killed people. And a navy. The colonies had a navy. With cutlasses and cannons and killing and stuff. Is there an MT Navy?

Just sayin'.

Um, yeah, let me break this down for you... - mtmom

[ In Reply To ..]
It is an analogy - so lets break this down.
1. Yes, 13 colonies, 13 people orginating the lawsuit.
2. Revolutionary War - analogy being a lawsuit, a different type of war being levied against the company.
3. Rifles and cannons and killing and stuff - lawyers and judges and juries, and I guess if we win, the killing would be analogous to the judgment.
4. Assistance from foreign allies - assistance from others jumping into the lawsuit, plus lawyers, etc.
5. Navy, the colonies had a navy - the litigants have a bevy of lawyers.

That was pretty easy. Why was it difficult for you? Just sayin... lol!!

get over yourself - just a lawsuit

[ In Reply To ..]
They were doing something illegal, you filed suit. You are not superwoman or participating in a war. OMG. You people need a job as it appears you have too much time on your hands. Do we have to hear about this daily? Pat your own back and let us know when its over.
No, I just left Transcend and make double what I used to - mtmom
[ In Reply To ..]
in less time, so I have time to look at this and offer my opinion, unlike the others who are busting their tails for no pay, and now started the lawsuit. Never said I was superwoman. H---, I didn't even start the lawsuit. But being offended because I made you feel stupid, I'm sorry I guess. But if you can't handle it, then don't participate. Wow. Bunch of petty ladies on here.
dont know how you made me feel stupid - you cant make me feel anything
[ In Reply To ..]
You must be talking to the other poster who answered you.
Where do you work now mtmom? - NeedanewMTjob
[ In Reply To ..]
I work for Transcend and really need to find something else. I can't make any money with this company!!!
I'm IC now for a local psychologist - mtmom

The pieces sometimes just all seem to fit.
Yes, makes sense, and I make really good money - frustrated
[ In Reply To ..]
so now you make fun of me because I left the bad paying job and found one where i'm in control and make good money. You people will never be happy. Apparently you hate everyone, me, the lawsuit people. It must truly suck to be you. All that hate makes people ugly.
anyone can make money with only easy work - makes sense too
[ In Reply To ..]
I currently work for a service where one person gets only easy work. The reason why is that when she does anything more difficult, the clients call wanting to know if she ever transcribed before coming to work there.
And your point is what? - tired of all the whining
[ In Reply To ..]
You are whining because you stay at a job where a person makes more than you because they get the "easy" work, yet you do nothing but sit there. Shame on you! I got up and found something that paid more. So it's not medical transcription anymore and it's psych instead. Why would I stay in med making nothing with Transcend when I can make so much more doing the other. I'm no less a transcriptionist than I was before, I'm just a better paid one. If you don't like your situation, do something about it. Otherwise, don't complain if you're afraid to take up for yourself.

13 colonies? You're really reaching here.... - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Since we are on the number 13 - ummm 13 is also an unlucky number, think Friday the 13th...oh no! We can go anywhere with a number so give us a break already.

just making a comparison of little Davids - versus big Goliaths

[ In Reply To ..]
If your don't understand now, then forget about it. I'm done trying to explain it.

Oh we all understood - - Enough already

[ In Reply To ..]
This is getting old. How many comparisons do we need to be subjected to? So 13 disgruntled women filed a lawsuit - uh we get it. Is there more? Are you done slobbering all over yourself? Are you writing "I heart the fab 13" on Post-It notes or what?
Petty, you're all just petty - so over it
[ In Reply To ..]
Don't like the lawsuit, don't like comparisons, don't like the 13. Whatever already. Move on then.

Do Only The High Producers Get The Grand Treatment?
Mar 17, 2010

I have requested more work and have been turned down.  I have asked for another account and the same thing, turned down.  I have been switched over to cover many accounts and when asked was told that the high producers are working on other accounts and I need to switch to cover.  Every time I ask about anything at my company, the answer is that is only for the high producers.  I produce my required quota of 16,000 lines per pay with 98 or more percent accuracy.  I cannot ...

Henry David Thoreau: "Most men lead lives of quiet desperation." And I will hasten to add the word "women" to the above quote.  I am one of those 'quiet desperation' people, as most of us are, until I personally faced an extreme economic situation with a utility company earlier this year.  I had a personal $25,000, yes, $25,000 dollar, situation on my hands regarding a water company that "stacks the decks" by placing former long-term employees of said water company into the ...

Wmx - Another Thought On This
Sep 02, 2010

I think this was a very large account and they could have divided the MTs who had this as their primary and put them on various other accounts.  Yes, this would have overstaffed those accounts and more MTs would be getting NJA as we all scrambled for what work there was.  Also, this way WMX would not be putting out unemployement for anyone and soon most of us would not have benefits because we couldn't keep our line counts up with NJA all the time.  All in all, looks like the ...

I'm just wondering what is with companies not calling you after you have passed a test and said they will? I don't understand it. Yes,  I realize that they may have several people, but is it too much to ask for a phone call to do an interview or something? I am looking for a job and when I do pass tests and get excited that I actually did and no one contacts me like they said they would, it really bothers me. ...

I Thought I Was The Only One
May 13, 2011

I just realized that no one cares about the quality of medical records anymore.  I have had to go to VR and I am now making anywhere between 4 and 12 dollars/hour.  I guess people care more about the quality of their hamburgers than they do peoples' healthcare. I have started to just send them through.  I don't even really listen to the work.  I look at it and change any major spelling errors, but other than that, what the VR says is what they get.  The fu ...

Could it be that the MModal and Nuance are buying all of these smaller, better MTSOs because they want to limit our employment options?  If MModal (the Q) and Nuance are the monopolizing companies, and an MT who works for them just had all she/he could take, where could she/he go?   Just a thought....   ...

What if we asked for stocks in the company as a benefit?  I know Wal-Mart does this for their employees, because my SIL, who has worked for Wal-Mart for a long time, drew from her stock and traveled a distance and paid for a  birthday party for her 3-year-old grandson and went shopping at our local mall and bought herself a wonderful new set of pots and pans (that new kind that is green and made out of ceramic) and just lived it up more than she could have done otherwise.  Si ...

Something smacks of anti-trust here. Jun 29, 2012

I do both medical and general transcription. I know there is much discussion about MTs standing a bit above GTs in the Invisible Hierarchy of Transcription because of the responsibility involved and amount of training required. I get that. I also know that general transcription is hard work and requires a lot of knowledge about a lot of things in order to do it well. What I JUST got, though, is the fact that a good general transcriptionist (one who can think and knows how to research unfamiliar ...
